3 of those are in a Power Conference

Haven’t looked at ND’s schedule yet but they usually have a Top 30 schedule
You go 10-2 with that you belong in a 12 team CFP
Especially when you carry a brand

Don’t think anyone will deny that brands do matter
Just how TV is

Conference champs matter. Your BS on a WVU board doesn't.

That's not how this 12 team CFP was being pushed out.

Thought it was only the top ranked of the G5 member conferences, and then perhaps a 2nd, maybe even a 3rd one, if by chance they happened to be ranked within the top 12/15, which the CFP committee can keep them out of that, if need be. Trying to remember, but thought it was conference champions, 1 G5, and the rest were all at-large bids. That's why people want to see. Wouldn't make sense to watch Fresno State against Ohio State nor La Tech face off against Oregon. Need to have the best teams in the field. I can see them giving the G5 a single bone, just to keep them engaged, but they would be better served having their own league/playoff. Otherwise, if you're going to do it like this, WVU might as well join the MAC.
The proposal didn't specify any distinctions between conferences. It was simply the 6 highest rated conference championships, and 6 highest rated non champions.

There shouldn’t be any guaranteed spots even for P5 schools
If you win a power conference you most likely will get in
But shouldn’t be guaranteed.

G5 schools…
Have to improve their scheduling.
Simple as that
Yet there are guaranteed spots. So it's basically a failure before it starts.

No
The PAC 12 was embarrassed when they complained about not having a guaranteed spot
There wasn’t any in the original plan
Don’t know about it know. They will postpone this until the contract with ESPN ends

Original plan was 4 teams. The 4 top rated teams chosen by a committee that thinks they know more than anyone else.

True but Cincinnati could schedule 3 P5 games
Probability says at least one will be decent
In 2019, a blueblood school played 3 top 25 teams, losing to #2 and #15 and beating #24. They finished 10 - 2 and beat Michigan in the Citrus Bowl. They also played 2 other teams with winning records, 7 - 6 and 8 - 5. Only 3 of the teams they played had winning records 8 - 5, 8 - 5, 7 - 6. The combined records of the teams they beat was 49 - 75. Who was this team? Alabama!

So does Alabama. 3 cupcakes and mostly a bunch of losers doesn't get it. I have been wrong and I will quickly admit it and go on. Try it sometime, it actually helps your credibility.

Don’t see your argument.
Plus P5 schools don’t have the same issues as a G5 school
No matter the records…Because records are a result of schedules
A P5 schedule will always get more credit than a G5 schedule especially one from the SEC.

Including wins against Duke 5 - 7, New Mexico State 2 - 10, Arkansas 2 - 10, Western Carolina 3 - 9, Ole Miss 4 - 8, South Carolina 4 - 8, Mississippi State 6 - 7. That is seven of their wins. That many cupcakes can give you diabetes. That is a mulligan 10 win schedule, 2 out of 3 top 25 teams beat them that year.

The top ranked P5 schools have too many gimmees, Stevie Wonder could see that. Granted, few G5 schools will miss all of their own cupcakes to schedule P5 opponents but when one does it should count. It doesn't. It seems as though you cannot admit when you even might be mistaken in your assessment of any situation. You still don't see my argument, do you? My point is, each school should be evaluated at the END of the regular season to determine eligibility for the playoffs.

Instead, it's a freakin' beauty contest. If both Baylor and TCU have both earned their way in, they should be in. Instead they cancel each other out and OSU goes in their place.

They also played the best team in the country LSU to the end.

All about proving that you can compete at that level.

Hard when you don’t have the games to do so. They did that year. Played LSU to the end.
LSU played maybe the toughest schedule in history that year
Beat everyone

This is the problem some have…
There won’t be that many of those games in conference outside of the SEC
Truthfully a lot of us have big games scheduled in the future

WVU plays Alabama twice
WVU plays Alabama tough and has a respectable record they should get in if we have a 12 team playoff that year

Ohio State and Michigan have scheduled everyone
Clemson needs a little bit more
Whoever wants to be in the CFP needs to

Think of basketball where the best 64 teams get a shot at the national championship. Obviously, you can't have that many games in football, but 12 teams is a nice compromise. Then, you just can't argue about not picking the best 12 teams. No conference champions. The only thing that matters is how that selection is done and to make sure there is absolutely no bias.

Having said that, our greatest chance was when they picked the top 2 teams. One upset (like 88) and we're champs. When it went to 4, it got twice as hard. Going to 12 teams reduces our chances to almost zero. Kinda guarantees that I'll go to my grave without a football NC. Maybe all the bluelotters as well. So, hoops will be our best chance as coming up with 5 great players is much easier than 22.

Only problem with 12 is the top 4 will remain the same. Then those top 4 get a week off to watch the teams that they will beat the crap out of. The top 4 will enjoy it when the teams 5 through 8 are upset making it even easier for them.

So you want almost half of the CFP to be…
AAC UCF
MWC Fresno State
CUSA Louisiana Tech
SunBelt Coastal Carolina
MAC Buffalo

Doesn’t bring people to the television
Casual fans
Fans of those schools

You personally might want that but most of this country doesn’t
Fans are always crying about schools paying a school like Buffalo to show up in their stadium

Most of the country never watches a single college football game each season and doesn't give a crap.
