Sure, your friends in Bangor, Maine, beat you by a month. But don't worry - those suckers in Mississippi aren't even on the schedule yet!

i'm moving the first week of june, and pondering which service to use. in the end, it looks like comcast is going to win out again.

Dish has them all in HD in Huntsville, AL. That was one thing that kept me from satellite for so long. The Dish receiver has really good integration with an OTA antenna too.

I'm with Directv and live in Tupelo. I get all my locals in HD with an antenna connected to the directv box. The channels show up in the guide and you can record them on the DVR. I don't care if or when Directv adds my local HD. Getting them over the air is better quality picture and you don't get the searching for signal during a heavy rain.

DirecTV quit selling boxed with OTA HD decoders. I bitched enough about this that I got them to send me a refurb with the said tuner.

Some suit over there thinks they no longer need to produce OTA HD boxes since local HD is carried on satellite now. So then I'm like, "cool sign my up for that...what you don't offer it here...you #*$#$%^ idiots"

but i'm moving here in a couple of months and I'm considering the switch from Comcast to Direct TV. I'm sure the Mississippi area will get HD locals soon enough in DirectTV, so that's not my concern right now... What does Direct have that competes with the free OnDemand movies and such you get with Comcast?

Directv has a box you connect the new DVRs that handles the over the air antenna connection. It's the AM-21 box. Connect antenna to am-21 connect am-21 to the dvr with a usb wire. The am-21 is about an inch tall and is the same deminsions as the dvr. You just place in top of the dvr. I have my DVR connected to my wireless internet network and get on demand content via the internet. The am-21 is $50, but you can get them free if you ***** enough since they don't provide you local HD.

Another advantage of using the OTA antenna is you get all the sub channels. I get wcbi 4-1,4-2,4-3 wtva 9-1,9-2 wlov 27-1,27-2

I have my internet with comcast. Internet only is $60 a month. If you get basic cable channels 2 to 13 and internet it is $53 a month. Comcast is the only high speed internet available. It is also a business expense for my home office. Comcast didn't block my other channels so I get 2-99 in SD and the local networks in HD. I have Directv for my viewing pleasure with much more HD and sports NFL, Nascar Pitpass Etc. If a game is on CSS or I want to watch some Memphis channels I can switch over to cable. Bad weather I can go to cable or OTA.
