Mintz had a ton of speed and your defense was able to get several stops in the red zone. TJ made too many mistakes and tried to match the size of Cherokee's OL on our DL and it just didn't work. And right after TJ made a change on the DL, injuries started piling up. But TJ never gave up and never quit fighting until the end, they didn't lay down or shy away from hits.

Now an honest question, is a part of Mountain football getting away with personal fouls while the other team gets called for everything? You hit a wide receiver in the helmet with your helmet (after the whistle?) and no personal foul? Usually knocking a player unconscious results in a personal foul penalty. TJ gets called for two face mask penalties on back to back plays, Cherokee doesn't get called for an obvious face mask later in the game. And there were countless late hits on McMullens after he threw the ball and none of them drew a flag.

Its called SMC football...they actually hit people in that conference. I knew u would have a list of excuses for why the game didnt go TJA way. Your qb got hurt after they were down by 21pts...yall laid on the field like boxers waiting on a 10 second count after every snap. Go Braves!

Good first part of the post . Second please don’t cry around . Cherokee was called for there share of penalties . The face mask almost broke mintzs neck. The hit on the kid was shoulder to body so please stop crying. Your guys acted like they were hurt every play then be back in the next play. Good game nice team but y’all wanted no part of being physical. I don’t think you touched Mintz all night he had to have 300 yards rushing

BravesGWY dont listen to that whiner...he said the same sh*t. When they got beat by union academy. Why would that coach use the same dline big lineup that sucked against union academy. That hall of fame coach with a gazillion wins may have Alzheimer's if he tried that same dline that he did vs union academy.

Whine and cry, whine and cry!! This game was over before you left Rutherford County! Out coached, out played and OUT SCORED!! Your Hall of Fame coach needs to go back to SC. He’s not a very good recruiter!!!

Congratulations again to Cherokee last night. Made the trip up from Rutherford County and based on some recommendations, enjoyed my first ever Indian Taco at Paul's with the family! Really enjoyed meeting several of the Cherokee fans who were very hospitable and loved seeing all the support for their team throughout the restaurant. Amazed at the stadium...has to be the finest 1A facility in the state but you would think they would add a few cell phone boosters for the fans LOL! As for the game, we knew it was important to get on the scoreboard first, if we had any chance of keeping this one close. Pinned the Braves deep in their own territory on their first possession and after a 3 and out, had a great opportunity starting at mid-field. However, as was the theme all night, the D-Line of Cherokee controlled the line of scrimmage and shut us down in the red zone. Then, #1 took over and proved he was the best athlete on the field. Really proud that our team did not give up and after cutting the lead to 15 pts in the 3rd quarter, we gained possession at mid-field but were unable to make anything happen. I was also very impressed with #35 at LB...boy, can he fill a gap. Game got a little chippy at the end and thought the refs missed several late hits (some call it "Mountain Football") but it didn't impact the outcome of the game. Amazing turnout by our fans...they were loud all night. Very proud of our players and coaches for a great season...this group of seniors won three conference championships in four years and there is a good deal of talent coming up through the program. Good luck to Cherokee next Friday night and we will keep your coach in our thoughts and prayers. I think Mitchell has the advantage but you never know what can happen on a Friday night. One final thought...while we may not have the best D-1 athletes, the biggest stadiums or the largest bands, there is nothing better than 1A Football!

OK, I have read the board for a while, but I have never posted. However, I can't let a claim that officials were against TJCA pass. Officials favoring Southern Piedmont teams and particularly TJCA has been a problem for years.

dmcamp, being tackled is not roughing. Being blocked is not roughing. Scoring is not roughing. Union Academy tried to cry roughing every play last week. I know your conference is not used to playing non-conference games without the refs attempting to alter the outcome in your favor, but the only way your conference will ever be taken seriously is to stop concentrating on controlling the refs and actually play something other than flag football. Actually scheduling some legit non-conference teams would be a good step, too. Have a nice recruiting season!

DH Hill...since this is your first post ever....why don't you make it your last. Stop with the uniformed comments about recruiting and silly accusations about refs favoring Southern Piedmont teams...I think we can all agree that no one is very impressed with officiating in this region.

Dh very nice post glad you enjoyed the frybread one of my favorite things to eat. Just be glad you got service last night not sure why we never can get anything on Friday night. Thoughts on the game your guys never quit and your fans were really into the game. Calls went against both teams. I thought taking your running game away was huge not sure how many he had but shutting 20 down seemed huge. Our d line is nasty and played that way. And 1 went nutts last night. The paper said 364 rushing. TJ has come a long ways and I wish y’all the best

What region were the refs from last night?
I really don't know. I was referring to the rural areas of Western North Carolina including Rutherford County and west. Seems like after they fill the 4A, 3A an 2A games, we tend to get (and I apologize for offending anyone) the older officials who seem a bit confused, slow to the ball, etc. I've read for years the complaints from posters from the SMC and Western Highlands about the same issue and I have to admit, when we play the teams in the Charlotte markets, the officiating seems a bit sharper. I don't think the officials are one-sided to one team or one conference and it just may be the reality of having fewer crews in the area.

Tha refs last night were from tha Charlotte area, pretty sure that's what he said!!! Or down around your way, they wasn't from wnc!! #20 got drilled and started easin up, then slid, qb slid multiple times!! Your receivers coulda lower there shoulder and got a yard to 3 yards but they chose to step outta bounds!!! Then your coaches and players were like, let's hit them hard!!! Hahahaha!! When unz did hit our boys your boys would run to tha sideline holdin somethin!!

Refs at Murphy game were from the Piedmont. And God were they awful. If I had to guess I would say the refs for the Cherokee game were from either the YVC or NW area.

Refs in ledger last night were from Stanly County. They called it pretty fair overall, but let Robbinsville get away with alot in the 1st half. Cracked down in the 2nd, after #70 got ejected Robbinsville cleaned up.

Our starting line most of the season was DE #66, DL #67, DL #67, DE #73. Our starting line last night was DE #67, DL #70, DL #78, and/or DL #53, DE #55.

Don't think it mattered much who started on the d line . Cherokee was just more physical in all aspects of the game . Thats all it came down to

The 3 ints, two in the redzone, and the two fumbles are what cost TJ the game. The fumbles might have been forced, but the ints were just bad ill-advised throws

First off you say other team gets by with this n that, ok 3rd round is neutral refs, there are no.refs from conference allowed , so if this did happen taken it else where , cause state set refs in 3rd round

Fact is TJ got that butt smacked because Cherokee was playing big boy football and TJ don't have the talent to do that.
