players and seemingly good players that have been evaluated by your coaches that fit the system. It seems to be Mullen and crew have definitely cranked it up a few notches. As much as it pains me to say it, I'd love the day that Ole Miss and MSU are competing in the Egg Bowl for the SEC West crown.

I think we're going to lay to rest the myth that MSU and UM can't both be good at the same time in the next few years. Both teams appear to be setting up pretty good. Took a vacation day today and was watching Scott Van Pelt today, the SI guy covering the SEC media days said that Auburn's stretch of LSU, at MSU, USC, at UM, A&M and at UGA was the toughest 6-game stretch in the country. It felt a little weird and a lot good to see the 2 MS schools in that list.

For the record, historically, there is no correlation between how good or bad the two schools are in any given year. We're as likely to either both go to bowls or neither go to a bowl as we are for 1 of us to go to a bowl and the other not.

Not going to happen, at least not in Oxford it won't. The home team usually wins the egg bowl and this year won't be any different.

Correction: The home team always wins the egg bowl when it's in Starkville. The home team occasionally wins the egg bowl when the game is in Oxford.

You are correct. Mullen said that every football field in this state is home field for Mississippi State. So the home team will definitely win.

It's a long way from now to November. We've won 4 of the last 10 in Oxford. I think we've got a real good shot this year.

Absolutely not. All you have to do is look at egg bowl history and know that the underdog wins a good bit of the time but homefield advantage can't be underestimated when both teams are good. I'm not counting years where the road team has gone into the other teams stadium and beaten them because the home team was god awful (look at eggbowl 2003 or eggbowl 2010). When both teams are good the home team usually wins it. I'm just making the point that the game will be a battle and if you or anyone else thinks that one team will blow out the other it's probably not going to happen.

Oh I don't think it will be a blow out

But it isn't a given Ole Miss will win either
