Great season for Minooka.

How many seniors does Minooka loose? Lower levels records?

Are we looking at a new monster in the SW Burbs?

Huge senior class graduates..and I know Terry McCombs is stepping down not sure on John Belskis..lower numbers always good so the ingredients are there we'll see...

Night and day difference. Turnovers killed the Indians tonight.
Yes they did but the team Br. Rice played tonight is legit and deserving for their seed.

Difference was Brother Rice capitalized on thchances they got. I sat on the wall in the North end zone with some Minooka fans due to the spillage if you will. Shaw’s fumble at the 2 and a recovery by Rice helped, no doubt. Minooka gets that ball complexion of this game changes dramatically.
Here’s my observations..Rice with Lausch and Shaw are legit from an offensive standpoint. Warren and Jefferson with that secondary are defensively stout. Minooka fans kick butt and outweighed our fandom big time. Tom from Minooka is my guy and I turned him onto to Tony’s beef on 70th and Pulaski...Tom lost a son as well in our conversations and is an awesome dude. High school football is what it is a bunch of kids that entertain curmudgeons like us but when your respectful and you talk to people equally as respectful it makes this game so magical for us all. Let’s remember that one taking about young men.

What Rice did against a heavier offensive line was chip and open holes for Shaw. You cannot sustain blocks against a bigger foe, you can’t and Minooka was the bigger foe. One thing Tom said to me was you’re guys are fast to the ball. Biggest difference. We won, great for us but meeting people from an hour away, Minooka has a new fan!!!

Minooka football is bursting at the seems with numbers and talent. Reminds me of Plainfield and Oswego before they split. When will Minooka open a second high school and where will it be located? Channahon?

Minooka already has a second campus in channahon. Can never be a 4 year school because of parking, so it is a frosh soph center. Kids get bussed from Minooka, shorewood, and Joliet all the way to channahon.

when the time comes for an additional (third) building, it will be in shorewood. The elementary district is struggling to get the Grundy contingent to sign off on a new junior high in shorewood. It’s all a matter of time as more will county housing permits make it inevitable. New junior high in shorewood in 1 to 2 more referendum cycles. New high school in 20 to 30 years, growth dependent obviously.

MCEvergreen, yes they are...they totally were in this game with the exception of a few gaffes. Well balanced and line play equals most.

JCHillmen that set up equals Lyons Township. And they seem to do okay.
It is a fine enough arrangement fie now. Knowing nothing about Lyons’ situation, I am certain Minooka has more unbuilt land left to develop, and they have tons of it. Realistically could double student enrollment a few decades out.

End game should have been to get each village its own 4 year school. One for shorewood, Minooka, and channahon. But the construction of a campus not suitable for a 4 year campus in channahon makes that necessity unlikely.

JcH my reply is that Lyons has 2 campuses...the freshmen / sophmore which is the newer campus and where the stadium is and the upper class one which in near downtown LaGrange on Brainard. Fun Lyons fact, David Hasselhoff went there. Now tell all your friends!!!

Ummm. the parking isn't great but it's still decent...and it was built as a separate campus and was suppose to be Channahon HS starting in 2014 but then the economy went to hell and they postponed the switch.

All I know is my grade school district Channahon 17 just announced that they are refunding tax money to us tax payers...second time in three years so....

My understanding was the board changed from the original vision of a 4 year campus because of parking. Read it in a summary of board minutes years ago. Could be wrong obviously.

And yes, that channahon situation is the perfect example why the hs district is 3 communities so different jammed into one school. Channahon has money from sources other than residential taxes plus they have been buffered from the housing boom. Minooka and shorewood got hit hard by housing explosion but in general are very skeptical of each other. I just believe the sum of the parts of the district often exceed the district as a whole and thus would love to see split high schools.

I recall someone saying on a thread that Rice could not score more than 30.
3 queens and an 8. Enough said.

Relax. The crusaders got a great draw. Your probably not one of the top 4 much less top 8 teams in 8a, but congrats on the winning streak....Good luck against warren

Why you mad?

Is Marist top 4 in the state? Hard to argue that they’re not right now. They were 5-4 and lost to BR...

Was Loyola best team in the state last year? Probably not. But who has a ring?

Edgy, maybe you should be banned for your anti BR blow out comment last week (Lol).

Hoping Marist/Rice pull off the upsets and we have an 8A Rice vs Marist State Championship. (Southside would burn down)

Marist beat Loyola twice, so yeah one could argue they are top 4. And as for Loyola goes last year, once all their players returned, they were definitely the best team in the state!

Rice beats LA with a healthy Johnny Bean,
Sorry had to say it because it’s true and straight out of the mouth of holecek
Maybe, but you don’t need to say it. It makes you look small and reflects poorly on you and the school you support. Enjoy this year and hopefully Rice can keep on advancing in the playoffs for years to come. I bet Bean would never say it. That kid is a warrior. Perhaps you could learn something from his example.

Ok ok
That went alittle more serious then I would of thought
This is more like it. A little levity. Saturday is going to be awesome. I’m cheering for Rice, but at the end of the day wouldn't mind seeing Warren advance and win the hole thing. Newt’s a good dude and it would be great for him, his son and their community. Not to mention, new blood in these title games is good for OUR sport. Grade school kids watch these games and if they believe only a handful of teams get a shot, they’ll play soccer.

Warren is scary good, Krock. Humility won’t hurt your cause. I need to remind myself if this about a thousand times a day. Good luck!

The only game I think would better is if it was a LWE Vs Warren. IMO Lol
Wow now that’s a matchup.

Terrific performance especially from soph QB Jack Lausch...Minooka had it's chances early but turnovers really hurt. Definitely a much different looking team now compared to the one I saw earier in the season.

Where can one purchase one of those hoodies? Do they have them at the bookstore? I would’ve direct messaged you but I don’t know how to do that, sorry.
The Fathers Club Tent during home games sells them, but I’m certain the bookstore should have this particular design as well. However, I’m not sure if they’re online. If not, email me, and I’ll send you [email protected]

It appears to me that Minooka was more cautious in construction than some of the neighbors...like Lincoln Way. Since Wilmington is in the same conference in junior high as Minooka & Channahon, I've been to a number of the schools in the community. And they probably are on the edge of being overbuilt...at least for athletics. Does Minooka really need tracks at the junior high and high school across the street from each other? Obviously I'm more accustomed to unit school districts where such construction would probably be considered a waste of money...

According to the Minooka HS website, the south campus was opened in 2008. There was going to be two phases to the development. They developed 34 acres of a 67 acre site originally as Phase 1. When development crashed in 2009, Minooka had a new building without all the fancy extra bells & whistles...no 8000 seat stadium, no $25 million dollar pool complex, no minor league quality baseball & softball stadiums. They had the building. When I looked at the aerial map, there's a building and parking lots...It would make sense at that point to not invest in more parking & full athletic facilities to make it a full-blown modern 4 year suburban high school. Phase 2, then, is still on the shelf.

But be realistic...there's another 33 undeveloped acres at Minooka South. Manteno has a "1500 student" building with full athletic facilities on about 30 acres. The school board in Minooka decided not to build a new parking lot at South to leave an existing one that much empty at the main campus. Fiscal restraint in a school board is a good thing...Phase 2 can be taken off the shelf in the next growth period and can easily add parking & athletic facilities on the 33 undeveloped acres.

I think they have been right on point and built when necessary. Now the time is necessary for a new jr high. We will see if it happens next election cycle.

and Minooka will no longer be in a JH conference with channahon, reed custer, etc. the smaller schools are scheduled to vote them out effective next school year if they are still one 7-8 jr high of over 1000 kids.

Hearing you speak of humility is pretty interesting
After the state game last year, would you consider your comments humble?
