I think they have been right on point and built when necessary. Now the time is necessary for a new jr high. We will see if it happens next election cycle.
and Minooka will no longer be in a JH conference with channahon, reed custer, etc. the smaller schools are scheduled to vote them out effective next school year if they are still one 7-8 jr high of over 1000 kids.
The Illinois Valley junior high conference may have history, but doesn't make much sense anymore. 996 student Minooka in the same conference with 63 student Mazon-Verona-Kinsman and 62 student Elwood? I didn't realize Minooka was that big...Channahon is only 301 junior high students...Minooka is like bigger than the next three schools in the conference combined...They need to go to the DVC with the Frankfort schools, they will still be the biggest but it won't be so blatant...
Kan-Will Conference in junior high is similar. Bradley at 287, Manteno 306, Peotone 226, Beecher 154, Grant Park 69, Momence 171, St. Anne 76, Herscher Limestone 258...
Bourbonnais UGC 528, Kankakee JH 704, and St. George 124 are independents. Maybe the IVC, DVC, and KWC need to consolidate with the independents and create 3 or 4 logical enrollment divisions...wait, isn't this what is tearing high school conferences apart...Junior high bus trips being short is generally more important...
