Probably still has a shot at a couple years in the bigs as a back up catcher, but not really what you expected the way he hit in college. I may be totally wrong on this but you have to wonder how much Moreland playing a couple years in the Cape Cod league with the wooden bat advanced his major league development. I dont remember Easley playin the CCL but he may have.

That's the fact that the majority of major league catchers just flat out can't hit. They hit .230-.250 or so... Every now and then you get a guy like McCann that can rake... But they mostly look for guys that can really relate well with the pitchers, and I think the fact that he has been called up with less than stellar hitting numbers shows that he deals with pitchers well.

Most of the guys drafted as catchers that can hit get moved to 1st or 3rd so they can get a fastlane to the bigs... Buster Posey is a great example of this.
