The Mormon pride of Kimberly, Idaho. Unbelievable athlete. Unfortunately we didn't sign his brother too.

Peyton broke the NCAA decathlon 100M record the other day with a 10.25 as a 23 year old. His little brother Gatlin ran the 100M in 10.15 as a 17 year old. He was also a 5* receiving recruit that signed with Michigan and flipped to Oregon after Harbaugh left. He's got 1 more year of mission, but I will be interested to see him on a college football field. He looked ridiculous on a high school football field.

Wait. I thought we were a javelin school. We’re a heptathlon & decathlon school now?

Wow, that's awesome. I'm normally kinda up to date on the lesser followed sports, but this was totally off my radar.

Damn, that is one seriously fast whit.. nevermind.

Happened to run across the first day competition Wed night on ESPN. Big T&F guy anyway but between Peyton and the 800m guys, State was getting a lot of coverage and watched the whole thing. Told my wife I thought he was from the delta. She Goggled it and nope, learned he's PooPops neighbor.
Funny you bring up Gatlin as I read a completely unrelated article on him a while back but never made the connection.

Anyone remember who the guy from the delta was a few years back that was some incredible overall athlete I thought was coming to State for something? (how's that for narrowing it down?)

If the Olympic decathlon champion is called the "World's Greatest Athlete" does that mean we can claim the NCAA's Greatest Athlete?

Wasn’t he a kicker/gymnast or something? Can’t remember his name. If it’s the same guy, he was posting videos of himself doing ridiculous things like a series of backflips before he nailed a 50 yard field goal.

That's him but had in my mind he was coming to run track and could also do all of that stuff for fun. Obviously wasn't Peyton.

For those done with the CWS and still want to see State compete, day 2 of the event is on ESPN2 tonight with him in the final 5 events. If it's anything like Wednesday night, they showed him a lot across the 5 events.
And you get to watch the greatest 3 minutes in sports, the 4X400, at the end!
