They obviously need to pay for all of this.

What consequences would you consider?

Send them the bill for starters the full 6-10 trillion this will cost. Make them stop eating bats, snakes, dogs all that ****. Force them to renegotiate the trade deal to offset the $500B trade imbalance. Open up their country to unimpeded investigations into the origins of this virus and every other scourge or maladies that originated from with in their borders. Anything short of this I say we significantly cut them off and create a new economy built upon the resources that exist in the USA and the rest of the Americas. Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil can fill in nicely where China is cut out.

American business used to operate under the scenerio you outlayed. The problem with your plan, is that it is not profitable enough for U.S. Corporations. While the government may have allowed the free trade to occur, it is the private corporations that decided that shipping in products manufactured in China provided better returns to its investors than manufacturing in this country. You can't beat paying workers a nickel an hour. Cha Ching.

You're right. Knew people that worked for Lexmark. They sent jobs to Mexico first, then when normalized trade was established with China, the Mexicans became to expensive. Now China owns Lexmark.

Don't think any organization has been more harmful to America than the Chamber of Commerce lobby.

Exactly. People would be shocked to know how much US manufacturing is assembly of Chinese built sub assemblies. Once saw an appliance assembly cell in which one employee snapped two assemblies together and then put it in a box with a big flag banner and "Made in the USA" label.

Would settle for just all the debt we owe them to be forgiven!! Then take everything that is essential from meds to whatever and bring it home...USA! In return they get NYT, cnn, msndc.

Simple. Replace China with Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Central America. We can still have low costs and greatly improve the lives of our fellow westerners who make less on balance than Chinese workers. People with similar democratic values to the USA. Strengthen this hemisphere.

China holds a very small amount of American debt. Much smaller now considering what congress committed to spend on this **** show. We could completely pullout of China and say you want your trillion dollars? Come get it!

Obviously nothing will happen to them.

But the rest of the world knows they screwed everyone else. China hurts it's image, and they let everyone know that anyone outside their borders is expendable.

Hopefully the rest of the free world wisens up to their government.. and i think they will.

Some here like to make light of this, BUT what if China does this again? This has been highly successful for them as far as dealing with the USA. If this goes another 3 months here our economy will probably be destroyed, whereas China would not care if they lost 300 million of their own people as long as their goal of global domination is achieved...when/if this is over, what is going to be our response to China ? Will the Democrats, some Republicans along with big business, step up to the plate and at the the direction of our POTUS put an end to their trust/dependence on China at the expense of the almighty $$$...Trump 2020!!

The U.S. debt to China is $1.07 trillion as of December 2019. So let's just call that even as a start.
I'm sure when we get this pandemic behind us that we will see some sweeping changes with the way AMERICA does business with the liars in China. We had better or we cannot complain. Will be interesting to see who steps up to do what's BEST FOR AMERICA and not the bottom line!!

Sorry, but Wall Street and our Fortune 500 could care less about the US or Patriotism. They have a more world view based solely on self-centered reasons.

This. Anybody that thinks China faces any sort of consequences that aren’t for show only are fooling themselves. Reversing course on globalism now would result in a total collapse of the worlds economy and I’d imagine a world war to boot.

-globalism isn't going to be reversed...but it should be restructured.

-Medicine/med equipment needs to be made in North America...US/Mex/Can are culturally similar, no reason we cant enrich our southern neighbor the way weve done for china starting in the early 90's.

-central/south america/Caribbean in play as well. Im sure the Brazilians/Hatians et al would *love* to have manufacturing investment.

-india is an ally (plus they're not commies)...rather send money there than to China.

-we will (and should) still trade with china...but we gotta get off their teet.

-the consumer will drive this. Costs a bit more/takes effort...but its possible to make *some* changes. Ive done it myself for years.

Watched this guy's travel vlog last night. He's from South Africa but lives in China and is married to a Chinese woman. He used to be kind of a regular vlogger but he has really gotten critical of China in the past few months.

It's fairly long and he dwells on eating odd animals, and dogs, for quite a while but 22 minutes in starts his rant on hygiene and some of his video is not for germaphobes.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...is the only thing they serve. Middle America is asked to be "patriotic ", but when is the last time you heard about the "uber " billions step up and donate funds to help with this type stuff? Example...Bloomberg threw away 400,000,000 to get zero benefit running for President. He, Gates, Bezos, Buffet , Waltons and others could do a patriotic thing to donate billions to help procure supplies for this pandemic and never lose a night's sleep over it...I'll be waiting!

All my shoes and boots are made in America. Most of my suits are, several in Chattanooga, Tn.

I bought a hammer last week; found one made in Vietnam (they despise China).

Folks need to check the label!!

Chicom cocksuckers:

"China has concealed the extent of the coronavirus outbreak in its country, under-reporting both total cases and deaths it’s suffered from the disease, the U.S. intelligence community concluded in a classified report to the White House, according to three U.S. officials."

"Stacks of thousands of urns outside funeral homes in Hubei province have driven public doubt in Beijing’s reporting."

The rest of the world paying for this. Of course Pelosi & Schiff say it's all Trump's fault. Who cares, but I'm furious.

Many idiots believe the US has more cases than they do. Hell our own damn media was saying it.
