Consideration of Furrey for OC

Saw where Shane said he would consider Furrey for the OC hire, which is standard coach speak at this stage. Hard to say if he really would or not. Would you consider him based on a 3-game body of work vs pursuing someone with a track record of competence as a college OC? Keeping in mind, it's not uncommon for teams to experience a surge in performance following a mid-season coaching change, though it is often followed by regression (see UCLA this year). If we have a "resurgence" in our final 3 games, it could be due to that phenomenon, and we won't see the regression to the norm until next season.

If I were Beamer, I wouldn't risk it. His career as a head coach hangs on getting this OC hire right. It simply has to work. I don't know how he could put that level of trust in a guy with a 3-game body of work.

Short of putting 50 points and 500 yards per game in each of our final 3 games, I'm not sure what Furrey could show in the 3 games that would get him the job under the dire circumstances Shane is facing.

I'm a numbers guy. Are there any stats as to how his offenses did in prior jobs?

50 and 500 wouldn't work for me....need proven OC

I think that would be SB's fatal mistake if it happened.
You can only make the same mistake so many times before it bites you in the a$$.

Apparently, Mike Shula was a deadbeat. I mean good gracious ... how can you be that bad compared to this?
