Roy Anderson/Harrell was the low bid.Unless something unexpected happens in the coming days, then they will get the job. There were a total of 6 bids submitted. </p>

Brasfield & Gorrie had the second lowest bid. It was only a .3% difference, or around $250,000. I don't know anything about this Harrell company but I do know that Brasfield is really good because I have a friend who works for them. They did both of Alabama's expansions and are doing the hospital expansion at Baptist here in Jackson. I know that the lowest bidder gets the job when its state money, but it would suck if the better company didn't get it because of such a small difference in price.

Let's not pretend that any of these companies are "better" than the other. They are all highly reputable big job construction companies.

FWIW Anderson/Harrell did our East upper deck/skybox expansion, as well as Ole Miss's south endzone expansion. The satisfaction levels on both jobs were huge, to the best of my memory. http://msbusiness.com/200...facilities-construction/

I, for one, was happy to see a MS based company win the bid instead of one of the guys like B&G, Harbert or Hunt.<div>
</div><div>I chuckled when I read your line<span style="font-family: Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">"I don't know anything about this Harrell company". Seriously? Man, if you ever get access to the internet you oughta check them out.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">

Harrell is over the new Arbor Hall dorms that are going up. They did an outstanding job with them. They are very nice inside and out.

the new dorms on time. I have been told that they will be cutting it very close on meeting the deadline (also been told there is no way they finish by the deadline). The stadium job is way, way more complex than the dorms, so that worries me a little bit. I passed by the new dorms on July 4th and crews were at full capacity.

that after Harrell (low bid) and Brasfield & Gorrie (who was within around $200,000 of low bid), no other contractor was really close. All other contractors were approximately $1 million high.
