I'm not sure what the NCAA rules are, but I know it's pretty easy to get creative with hiring.
I've always thought UK needed to build a stronger football operation not only on the field but behind the scenes with support staff and administrative personnel.
Bring in football people. Guys who have played and/or coached, and have them be a part of the program in some capacity.
Heck have ole papaw brooks come back to watch film and run the scout teams.
Joker may not have been HC material, but he coached a heck of an offense and put some players in the pros during his time as OC. Have him come in and be a part time adviser or "special assistant to the AD". If nothing else he can share with CMS everything not to do.
Bring in Couch, Dawson, Lorenzen, etc...and have them be on some sort of "legacy board"...
I've long thought Howard Schnellenberger should have been brought in a long time ago and made some sort of "Athletic Director Emeritus" and put in charge of football oversight. Time has probably passed for that though...but 15 years ago he could have gotten the ball rolling.
Steve Sarkesian just got on with Bama. When guys like that go through some things and hit the open market, bring them on to watch film and help with drills. Saban now has a former top P5 assistant and recruiter as a graduate assistant/manager.
Hell go get Johnny Football to run scout team QB...for the week before UL at the very least...
