1. He'll be on campus, in school, and practicing in January. Not 2 weeks before the first game.
2. He looked OK in the limited action he saw for Florida. Schaeffer sucked in the action he saw at Tennessee.

Besides, if Newton doesn't pan out, how can he be much worse than what has suited up at QB for MSU in the past 3 decades? If Newton is worth half the hype, he can sneeze and pretty much shatter every passing record at MSU.

You can't make a pocket passer out of a guy like Brent Schaeffer, and I think if they had tried to use his strengths (like I'm sure Mullen would do with Newton) he would have been a very good QB

Go look at the youtube video of him where he runs over the UT guy. If Relf could throw the ball he would be dangerous. You have to be able to throw to keep the D honest. Look at how many long runs Relf has had this year and he cannot hit the broad side of a barn. You will not be able to stack the line with Newton a QB.

Cam packs a wallop, eh? I hope he can throw as well as he trucks... I just re-watched the first 2 offensive drives from the Bama game and if we'd only had a QB with enough mustard to hit O'Neal in stride on the first pass and enough accuracy to not throw a pick when our O was clicking and approaching their red zone, it's a totally different ballgame.
