Does Lewis end up their? Can't see how they don't take a step back next year. Lost Flagg, Nipple and I believe Maluach.. They lost Shelton, they didn't land Ament, and I believe Proctor is heading to the draft as well. I also believe Mason Gillis is out of eligibility. They add the Boozer twins, and Khamenia. Also seems they haven't made any adds in the transfer portal just yet.
That's an awful lot of outgoing production and not really enough coming in to replace it.

Forgot Caden Boozer was a PG. Technically, I think it would work, because Caden is big enough to guard the 2G. I still think both of them want the ball in their hands too much to play together.Meh. He would help for sure. But also a freshman. I'm not sure what their answer is for starting PG, because they kind of struggled with PG as well last year at times.. so they probably could use him.
But that still doesn't equate to what they're losing, which seems to be about 5 guys, 3 of which are lottery picks. The boozer twins, khamenia and even adding in Lewis, doesn't overcome that.

Scheyer doesn't play a deep bench and Lewis isn't taking many minutes away from the lesser of the 2 Boozer Boys.Meh. He would help for sure. But also a freshman. Three lottery picks and no championship. Freshmen, no matter how good, are playing against grown men.And who knows how they will pan out as freshman. For Duke to have 3 freshman last year wind up being lottery picks.. that's kind of like striking gold. There were many Kentucky (and Duke) classes that high better ranked classes, but players who didn't live up to the loft expectations. We know that Boozer is not on Flagg's level, and I'd be very shocked if Khamenia and the other Boozer prove to be as valuable in year 1 as Nipple and Maluach... I'd say Duke was VERY fortunate to have last years freshman perform as well as they did

I was actually shocked to learn that he wasn't even the youngest player this season.BUT HE WAS 17 THIS YEAR!?!?!!?
It can't be overstated how bad Flagg performed down the stretch in close games. I recently rewatched the end of our game with them, and I only remembered the 2 turnovers he had the last 2 possessions, but he also made another one. 3 turnovers in the last 2 mins I think. And he also let Oweh get the missed FT rebound over him too. And he had similar meltdowns in other games. The crazy part is, they had that game 99.9% won. Which I guess emphasizes your point that freshman are just too inexperienced to win 6-games in a row against the best of the best teams in March.. But I also believe a lot of it was on Scheyer, and the simple fact that they just flat out choked, and Houston made some big time shots. Its wild to think, but IMO, you play that game 1,000 times from the 2min mark, and Duke wins 995 times. It just so happened to be the day where Houston had one of those 5 wins out of 1000.
Recruits go to Duke not because of scheyer,I hate Duke as much as anyone, but people have been dismissing their chances ever since K announced he was leaving. It obviously didn't work out that way. Scheyer is a good coach, who will only improve. They will continue to get 5-star recruits and get solid portal transfers.
I would be stunned if they are even close to as good as they were this season. But they will still be good.
Now that I've paid them a compliment or two, I'm going to go wash my mouth out with soap and ask for your forgiveness.
They may not go because of him, but they certainly would not go if they disliked the coach or if that coach were perceived as incompetent. And Scheyer is most definitely not incompetent. Plus, he'll continue to get better.Recruits go to Duke not because of scheyer,
it is because of Duke relationship to Nike, Duke relationship to USA basketball, Duke's alum in NBA, Duke's money...
Even if scheyer is not coach of Duke, Flagg, Boozer.. would still go to Duke...
Scheyer is not good game coach, glad he is Duke's coach, so Duke will never dominate college basketball (probably will not win even one championship) with huge resource and extremely favored whistle and schedule
It is more of Scheyer benefits from Duke brand rather than Scheyer elevates Duke like many good coaches do to other schoolsThey may not go because of him, but they certainly would not go if they disliked the coach or if that coach were perceived as incompetent. I won't downplay/downgrade Duke just because I hate 'em.
I dont know if that's true. They just had a five star guy decommit and follow Jai Lucas to Miami. Players care a lot more about the coach than the school.Recruits go to Duke not because of scheyer,

Yeah, I'm sure a small part of him wanted to come back and potentially win a title at Duke, so soon after a loss he's running his mouth about it. But then you have to stop and think- "I'm likely the #1 pick in the NBA draft and I'm gonna be making millions from day one!" So, that's when reality sets in and the wishful thinking goes out the window. Duke fans wanted to believe, of course, just like I wanted to believe it about maybe 20+ players over the last 15 years, but rarely do my wants come to fruition. Call me cynical. I knew he was gone. And to be honest, who could really blame him for taking the leap? There are times when it's totally obvious this is the right choice. This is one of those times. I could name several others where it wasn't the right choice. They didn't listen to me, though. As expected.
I can’t believe there’s folks out there who thought he was coming back.
No!! I was told he was returning for his 18th year on Earth season to be crowned champion!

What about Sion James as well he’s done. Looks like they could return Foster, Evans, Brown, Proctor( maybe), Harris, and Ngbonga. Can't see how they don't take a step back next year. What a shocker!
