Correct process to get a stud baseball player some MSU love?

I work with the father of a guy that was just named the pitcher of the year as a junior here north of Atlanta. He is a tall, lean kid that is already being loved on by the scouts. I am sure we are on the guy because he is related to or his family knows Nick Routt (and another guy that we signed from Silver Spring, MD but transferred to a JUCO).

#1 would be

to give the kid a full ride, which I don't think is possible with our situation. The two schools that I can think of off the top of my head (Vandy and Florida) that seem to consistently get 1st (or top 5) round kids to come, both have state scholarships that allow the kids to go for free and don't count against the limit. This is absurd, by the way.

Money won't be a huge issue. Dad makes big money (although we all want our kids to get the love). But, I do think that we could have a shot if the kid goes to college. As a 6-2 junior lefthander, he transferred in from Dallas and 65 Ks in 63 innings and tops out in the 91/92 range. Pitching in 5A here locally. Older cousin pitched for that yankee 'other' MSU.

Don't a lot of Ole Miss and USM players get Lucky Day scholarships?

I just remember a ton of guys on my high school's football team being offered 'leadership' scholarships at Millsaps that essentially gave them a full ride.

Anyone know emails for Cohen or Thompson? Wouldn't waste their time if I didn't think this kid was going to be a helluva player. He will get drafted.

Take him to one of his camps.

Certainly some former players have camps too.

If you somehow got their email addresses (actually is not that hard) it'll go straight to their trash. If anything, get some stuff together (YouTube clip, stats, yada yada yada) and send it to some of the assistants or front office people. I've know one person in my life where this has actually worked.

I'm

not certain, but I've always heard that between athletic scholarships and academic scholarship (through endowments, private, etc) Vandy can pretty much offer a full ride...to at least a good portion of their roster. Again, I never played at Vandy so I really have no direct knowledge or verification.

This kid has gotten offers from Alabama, Vanderbilt and others so far.

Nothing from MSU... Anyone know anyone?
