Could a 17-0 NO be playing a 16-1 Minnesota for the NFC title?

that is slowly beginning to shape up. The Saints cant afford to take a week off because they have to secure home field

I've gone from hoping the Saints don't win the Super Bowl to hoping they don't go 19-0 when they do win the Super Bowl. But you're right about Minnesota. That's shaping up to almost certainly be the NFC title game and home field should be huge. Who would have home field if they both wound up with the same record?

As opposed to Indy who will have home filed locked up in a couple of weeks....You get past the undefeated thing, and are actually still playing for something.

The current tiebreakers are as follows:<span>[</span>4<span>]</span></p> <table class="wikitable"> <tbody> <tr> <th>Divisional tiebreakers</th> <th>Wild Card tiebreakers</th> </tr> <tr> <td> [list type=decimal] [*]Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). [*]Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. [*]Strength of victory (the combined won-lost-tied percentage of all the teams that a club has defeated). [*]Strength of schedule (the combined won-lost-tied percentage of all the teams that a club has played against). [*]Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. but let's not get too delusional here.

Minnesota still has Cinci, Arizona, and NYG left, NO has Dallas and Atlanta, all solid teams that could or will make the playoffs.

With them comfortably in the playoffs and playing teams fighting for a spot, there's a question of motivation. Sure home field is something worth fighting for, but playing to play another day is a different motivator. If you're in week 17 and comfortably know that you're playing again in 2 weeks, you aren't going to play nearly as hard no matter who you're playing against.

with Minnesota being the other team in the race, at least the Saints would still be in dome should they lose full home field and reach the NFC title game. Far better than Soldier Field.

The tiebreakers you mentioned are for determining who actually makes the playoffs, not who has home-field advantage in the playoffs. According to the NFL website, to decide home-field advantage you would use the Wild Card tiebreakers between two non-division clubs. Therefore the Wild Card tiebreakers would be used to determine whether the Vikings or Saints have to home field advantage if they both win their division but end with identical records.

edited to say that the Vikings loss is out-of-conference (to the Steelers). Therefore if the Saints and Vikings both finish 15-1, the Vikings would have home field. That is because the Saints loss would be to the Falcons, Bucs, Redskins, Cowboys, or Panthers (all in-conference teams)

I hope they realize a Super Bowl win will require, even with a buy, more playoff victories than they've managed to accumulate over the course of their 40+ year history (that's 2 post-season wins for you fact checkers).

The Saints are cursed. You are better served being a Cubs fan.

I am both. And a State fan. My life has been filled with disappointment and misery.

I'm pretty indifferent to whether they do well or poorly. I've just found it funny that it seems from under every rock has emerged a life-long Saints fan this season. I didn't know near this many Saints fans existed during the bad times. There is no doubt a large core of die hard Saints fans that support them through thick and thin.

But, I'm getting the feeling that underneath all the Saints fleur de lis stickers I see on the back of many vehicles these days, you will find and old gator sticker, tiger sticker, and maybe a longhorn.

there just hasn't been much to get excited about before. why would anybody want to talk about the 3-13 NFL team they support?

i've been with MSU through the thin, and the Saints, and started going to Braves games when Odabee McDowell (or however he spells it) was a starter. There have been plenty of seasons when I didn't feel like talking about any of them, but I've watched/went to all the games and rooted for them all the whole time.

there are 4 loseable games for the Saints.

Redskins - classic letdown/trap game
@ Atlanta
Dallas
@ Carolina

I say they lose two, and I would go with the Skins and the Panthers.

I think Minny loses 1-2 more as well. Colts will probably lose this week.
