Saban didn't write a dear john letter wreck a motorcycle or get caught nailing a coed either

So basically don't get caught and we're good?

Just. Win. For. The. Love. Of. God.

Look at UNC. Look at Louisville. The NCAA doesn't even care and guess what? RECRUITS AND THEIR PARENTNS DONT EITHER.

the only people who give a damn about this crap are us UK fans who use it as a verbal bomb. Well, I'm sick of it. While the rest skate by and win, we settle for the ivory tower and lose.

We are in football what we make fun of Indiana for in basketball.

Just think about it.

I'm not sure about now but I think they were better because of him during his first stint there. Admittedly I don't know too much about UL football's history.

In too drunk to follow.

If your point is Barnhart is awesome, we shouldn't hire a winner because he's an alpha who bangs coeds, and you'd rather lose than roll the dice. Root for Indiana.

If not I agree.

We are literally watching Louisville take the most popular sport and become a state darling over WHAT?

You idiots that won't let this crap go need to get out of the ivory tower and smell the roses on the ground. You are losing YOUR UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL TEAM TO THE LOSERS DOWN THE ROAD.

They are laughing at you all the way to the bank.

Charlie Strong's last year UofL went 12-1 and beat Florida in the Sugar Bowl. In Petrino's first two years they've gone 9-4 and 8-5 with zero wins over a ranked team I'm pretty sure. So I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying they're not any better off with him.

I'll tell ha this, I don't want to hear one UK fan in basketball make fun of Indiana for their ivory tower "holier than thou" bs about calipari. We hired a winner that was perceived as dirty. We hired a man that was head over TWO PROGRAMS WHO HAD FINAL FOURS STRIPPED and fled from the last one. And guess what? IT DOESNT MATTER. HES DONE GREAT!

what is so hard for you to apply the same logic to football?

F'ing losers mentality. Please support someone else. I want to see a product before I die

I would sell my soul to satan at this point to see a winning UK football team. I don't care if he humps every girl on campus, if they are over 18 and willing. That's his adult business. Hell I'll even pitch in to buy him an endless supply of escorts at this point.

So you think letting has uofl at a higher point than strong did when he left? I don't see it. He hasn't been a failure, but he has not improved the program either.

Please. in a few years, come back to me. You won't, but you'll remember this.

Haha so taking the coaching job at UK is fleeing? And the stripping of the final fours is a joke because if those violations happened at a school like Duke or UNC we know what the outcome would've been. Plus Cal wasn't implicated in either of the violations and he reported Camby's involvement with the booster himself. You can't compare lies and hearsay about Calipari to actual facts about what we really know about Petrino.

I'm gonna say this too.

When we finally had a decent product in football, fans wanted to go the route of a winner. We had some prestige, wins, bowl record, and were beating louisville. We had wins over national champs LSU and played the top teams in the SEC to the wire. We were ranked in the top 10, and beat teams like Clemson and Florida State in bowl games.

We wanted to continue that to the next level. The fans wanted no part of Joker Phillips because an idiot could see we needed to take the next step and hire a proven coach.

One problem with that.

We've got Mitch jagoff Barnhart as our AD who was more concerned with his PC pick over continuing winning.

Barnhart couldn't care less about winning in football. He gets paid and extensions when losing and spending 10 minutes hiring coaches. He knew Joker wouldn't be able to handle this job, because hell, my 15 year old nephew was shaking his head. You don't have to be a genius to realize it. Barnhart knew it wouldn't work, but he DOES NOT CARE.

Fans, wake the hell up. We need to boycott football (and maybe basketball to an extent) and send a damn message. We no longer support Mitch Barnhart. Hire a damn winner in the athletic department.

Respond with your wallet and demand the product we deserve. We will never have a constant in football until we have an athletic directer that demands a winning product.

Mitch Barnhart has had his day, and he's failed. It's time.

Are you dense?

Try asking around, Cal was seen as the riskiest and dirtiest coach in D1 basketball. AND IT DOESNT MATTER.

The comparison is valid. Proof is meaningless in todays world. Reputation is everything. Ever heard of Hillary Clinton?

We've been there, done that. Hire a damn winner and deal with what comes with it later. Uk won't allow Petrino to run wild in the same manner. We can control our product.

God people, we are going to lose forever.

If you didnt notice, 90% of this board is agreeing with me. What does that say about you?

Come on man, we can win. Stop this nonsense. Hire a winner and roll the dice.

Honestly, what do we have to lose? We won bigger on probation.

What. do. we. have. to. lose?

No everybody on here doesn't agree with you. I think most of us don't want to have to cheer on someone of the moral character of a Bobby Petrino. And for you to compare Bobby Petrino to Cal it's just a total disrespect of the person Cal is. Like I said we don't have to guess what kind of person Petrino is. Unless you know something about Cal that the rest of us don't then you're just like all the haters blowing hot air.

You take a poll in 2008 and Cal ranks at the top for dirtiest coaches in college basketball. Probably the top spot actually. Do I agree, no. Do I think Petrino is the devil you think he is either? No.

Trying to win in D1 sports while keeping your hands completely clean is like trying to sit at the left side of satans thrown in hell while displaying no sin. It's not possible. I'm not comparing the men, I'm comparing the reality of this situation.

Screw Petrino, IDGAF. But in the future, we need to come down from the Ivory tower. We are losing our program and future fans to the team down the road while you get to keep your fake image that doesn't even exist. i don't know whats so hard about that. No one calls the morality program a winner and they sure as hell don't remember them.
Im sure you think Indiana basketball is so noble, right? They lose, have lost their image, have lost their place among the greats, but dammit they lose the "right way".

Wise up.

The Petrino argument is a valid one and worthy of discussion.

Although not sure why everyone doesn't know the OP is a confirmed UL troll.

careful, you will get the ignore button. Said it from day one, wanted Petrino. I got flamed all over this board. THE GUY KNOWS HOW TO WIN. He will beat Ky for the 4th straight time in November. I don't care if he is an ahole. UK should have hired him.

If Petrino is or was our only chance for winning then we're truly screwed. He's not just some ******* that has a few minor character flaws. I would be more than willing to give Jeff Brohm a chance to coach here. I think he's every bit the offensive coach Petrino is. And even though he played at UofL I think he's a likable person. If Western Kentucky has another successful season this year then I'm 100% sold on him being the next coach if we can get him.
When (I'm no longer at if)is fired here then I would love to have either Brohm or Mike Leach here

It's not the same logic at all. Not even close. Petrino's problems aren't with the NCAA. They're with the fact he's a world class A hole and deplorable human being. Show me one story that has Cal burning every bridge because he's a jerk. Show me one story where another coach is quoted as calling him a gutless bastard (as Mike Zimmer called Petrino). Until then, the logic isn't the same at all. People may not have liked Cal before he got here, but it wasn't widely known that he's a jerk like it is with Petrino. I haven't seen any stories regarding how bad of a person Cal is. Most stories are actually really positive about him as a person. Like I said earlier, I don't care about your, or anyone's for that matter, perceptions of someone else. They aren't facts. There's nothing I've seen out that attests to the fact Cal is a lowlife scumbag.

It all comes down to values. You value winning in football over all else. That's fine. In that case Petrino would be the right guy. Some people like myself don't want a grade A jerk off to be the head coach of the program. I don't care if we bring in a guy that has NCAA problems or other issues. It's not a holier than thou approach. It's really just about not wanting one of the biggest pieces of scum on all of the earth to be the head coach of the football program.

Petrino isn't coming here so I don't care. I think you're severely downplaying Cals issues and reputation in 2008, but whatever.

We've got to stop this nonsense in the future. No more morality exams. You want Moses as a football coach, we've got it. But guess what? Parent don't care. Recruits don't care. The NCAA doesn't care. Most universities don't care. Why do YOU care?

We are an SEC football program. Do I want these guys become a deacon at my church? Well no.

It doesn't matter anyway. As long as Barnhart is here football will be in the gutter. He's shooting for a bowl game, nothing more.

Again, that with NCAA for Cal, which I said I was ok with hiring because college athletics isn't exactly clean. That doesn't mean we have to hire dirtbags to be the head coach. There's other coaches we could hire that wouldn't burn the school down at a moment's notice if it was going to benefit him.

Petrino may be a jerk, but you honestly can't tell me we would be in this position in his fourth year.

While I still have faith in Stoops, it's a no brainer.

Personally, I'd rather lose with class, than win with a POS coach like Petrino. No way in hell UK would ever hire Petrino, or anyone else like him, and I'm 100% in agreement with that. We are above that, win or lose.
