UK handles it's business way different than UL. We can hire winners and control the situation. If not, WE ARENT LOSING ANYTHING.

But morals man, morals. We lose the right way. I'm all in.
You're right we do handle things differently than UofL and that's why a coach like Petrino would never be hired. I'd gladly support someone like Jeff Brohm if we could get him. He and his family are the biggest UofL supporters you'll find but it wouldn't bother me in the least.

you don't know what any of these people are like. you might think he's greatest guy on earth and all he has is a good PR handler
That's true. And if reports come out about Cal being the type of individual Petrino or Pitino are then, I'll be upset about that. My argument is you can't compare perceptions of someone based off internet message boards with someone else who has people in their own coaching family talk about how much they suck. You're completely right. Cal may turn out to be a loser, but we don't know that to the extent we know it about Petrino.

We are discussing Kentucky Football and you're coming at me with guarantee's. That does not compute, sir.

I apologize, but the "Is that hard to really understand" from the original post appeared to belittle any opposing thought process. Nobody can guarantee a successful approach when hiring a football coach, but there was sufficient data available to come to the conclusion that he would have been the coach who provided UK the highest chance of success. The negatives were obvious with him due to his personal indiscretions, but professionally, he was the best available coach. He has a history of leaving programs in shambles, so he was untouchable for all major programs. This would have provided UK with substantial leverage in contract negotiations and we should have been able to render an agreement similar to what he now has at Louisville with a massive buyout paid to the university if he leaves, and we could have littered the agreement with any possible reason to terminate the contract at any time without having to pay a nickel to him. All the leverage was UK's, and if everything went smoothly (which admittedly could have easily went south) we have a top 10 caliber coach and all the leverage from a contract standpoint. Win, Win.

I should also note that I did appreciate the Mark Stoops hire. It was out of the box thinking by attacking the fertile recruiting grounds of Ohio. High school recruits have traditionally stayed close to home, and Lexington is just that for Ohio, and we have the SEC brand. That's two things nobody else can sell to Ohio recruits as a bundle, other schools can only sell one or the other. These two reasons are why i am still open to the idea of hiring an established Ohio guy at HC (Tressell) and bring in a DC from the area (Pelini). Two proven guys, keep Marrow, Gran, Thomas, (our 3 most valuable coaches IMO) and let them bring in others for the rest of the available positions.

Lol I guarantee you I'm a bigger basketball fan than you. All I was saying is I don't think there would be many people at all happy if Pitino became coach here again mainly because of the person he is. Even if he would win a lot of games which he most definitely would. It's sort of the same situation as hiring Petrino.
youre not suggesting Pitino was a different person when he was here than he was now are you??? hahaha, he just had more resources covering up for him here.

Who know's what he was up to when he was the coach here. It certainly wasn't public knowledge like the whole Sypher scandal is. You would think something like that would get most coaches fired but he got a raise at UofL.

you are a mindless dweeb..uavel needs 12 year olds like you..
man, you played that name calling card quick. but that usually happens with weak arguments. Nero barnhart and the UK brain trust have fiddled for over a decade living off their conference bretheren while a city college locked up the financing, political connections, in-state corporate sponsorships, AtoZ overhaul of all athletic facilities and coaching talent acquisition to compete in everything but you're happy because they took the moral high ground. reality: they are immorally inept and lazy and overpaid and guity of far worse than any kind of personal life indiscretions of some coach.

I wish we could get him as our coach but it won't happen. Barnhart won't fire stoops after this season and he will wait till brohm gets a better job somewhere. Barnhart should get fired for that stupid decision he made to extend stoops contract but instead he gets an extension this year. Any other school in the SEC would have fired Barnhart. That's the problem right there with Kentucky. It's a mindset that we have that keeps us at the bottom of the conference. Other schools take football a lot more seriously and it's been a problem for Kentucky for a long, long time.

UofL endured two weeks of bad press to get a winner. I would take a couple of weeks of bad write ups in exchange for a winning program. All that stuff never gets mentioned anymore. Very few out there that can win with less talented players , and he is one of them.

This could possibly be the funniest thread I've ever read. Hats off everyone. We do need a good coach though, screw morals. If morals played a part in fball Bobby petrino couldn't recruit anyone.
