Anybody want to give Gene directions to Liggins house so maybe he can take a vacation until after signing day?

I tried the other day to find some of those old Robert Elliot threads, but it looks like they are gone. I assume it was a result of the move to yuku. It's a shame. That was some great stuff.

David Murray continues to give one paragraph of good, solid information in a story that is 40,000 paragraphs long.

The posters are believing that every recruit should be a four or five star and there is a conspiracy against MSU.

Rosebowl was badly whipped by Yancy last year, but has been spot-on with everything he has said this year. Either he is getting lucky, getting better info, or just leaving himself some wiggle room.

'cept you forgot about the ~20 threads spread across four forums that are railing against Yancy and his ..."I'm lying to mislead the enemy" and especially his ..."Dan Mullen reads his tidbits everyday."

I said Rosebowl was whipped by Yancy last year when Yancy's info proved more accurate than Rosebowl's info. I said Rosebowl has been spot-on this year as his (Rosebowl's) info has been accurate.

But Elliott was something like a 4-5 star running back out of Okalona that Ole Miss wanted REALLY bad. He was on their commitment list for awhile- but Yancy may have just put him on it, I'm not sure. Anyway- there were rumors of stuff like Croom and Orgeron getting into a fight in Robert Elliott's front yard and stuff like that.

If I remember correctly, Ole Miss fans accused Gene of shutting off Elliott from the Ole Miss coaches. They said something to the effect of he became Robert Elliott's guardian and when they (the Ole Miss coaches) called Elliott's phone, it was Gene or something like that, or they traced the call to Genespage.

Someone feel free to correct me where I am mistaken.

Gene was somehow involved which is nuts. Gene really is a moron. I can picture him chasing cars, coaches, and recruits with his notepad and camera like he is a double-naught spy.

For all of the crap that Steve Robertson catches on here, he is far and away more professional than Gene. The recruits seem to like Steve and like the fact that he helps get their name out there. I know of several recruits and their parents that have called Steve and actually thanked him for the publicity (Whitehead that shafted us and Ole Miss for Auburn comes to mind). Steve looked like a lost ball in high weeds last year with his predictions, but has been accurate thus far this year.

Gene was there hiding out, and there was a fight between our assistant coaches and the Bears... We need to find the posts on this.

i'm not even being sarcastic... I think someone actually suggested that gene had bullet holes in his car (for some reason i don't think it was gene himself that said that)

but I think the Ole Miss coaches couldn't get Robert on the phone before his in-home visit, and when they showed up the State coaches were there despite having used up their in-home visit. I think that's what initially set it off. I could be wrong, though.

Regardless, I'm absolutely positive that it's the result of State coaches being dirty, cheating pieces of **** and the Ole Miss coaches were frustrated that someone could beat them by breaking the rules. (**)

1. I don't think he's smart enough to do it.

2. He lets Rosebowl do most of the football recruiting. Very rarely do you see Gene posting anything on the recruiting board.

3. Gene does more with baseball than anything. I could maybe see him stalking out a baseball recruit, but not a football recruit, and certainly not one that there was a chance we might not get.

I think Gene learned his lesson with Doug Buckles and "Buckles will be a bulldog"- he still hasn't lived that down over ten years later. After that, I think he was content to let someone else handle recruiting.

As far as last year, I do think Rosebowl got played a lot by Yancy and his crew. Especially on Kameron Wood. Personally, I thought it was very malicious and designed to make him look bad. Some of that is on him too- it's his job to get solid recruiting info. It doesn't help that there is a competing MSU recruiting website- then Bulldog Junction and now MississippiState247 that had more reliable info. It also doesn't help that he acts arrogant to anyone that might have some info that he doesn't have and in some cases bans them.

but I thought it was either after the Egg Bowl or a MSU baseball game in Oxford. I'm not sure which one.

I seem to recall that Elliot also disappeared for 3-4 days prior to signing day. Rumor was Gene had him in a safe house to keep him from "all the pressure".

And the whole Robert Elliot story shows just how insane and silly this time of year is. All that hoopla sorrounding that kid and he never really amounted to much. Glad he was a bulldog tho

there was no mention of a physical confrontation between O and Croom, but Elliot's uncle had some pretty heated words for Rev. Freeze, O's best recruiter. The ole miss crew showed up at elliot's house and he was not there. Everybody but Freeze left, he stayed there to
stakeout the joint. Later Croom and his posse showed up with Rob's
Uncle. As they were leaving, Freeze stcuk his head in to ask Mama Elliot what was going on. Robert's Uncle told them he wasn't happy about their recruiting Joe McKnight. Robert's uncle said he knew O was going to favor McKnight because they were both from Louisiana. The Ole Miss crew then went to wherever Robert's little brother's football (or basketball) team was having an end of the season banquet. They tried to enter the party, but were kicked out. They also tried to call Rob a ridiculous amount of times that day, he never answered. Forgive me if I am getting some of the facts out of order, read the book, it's good

I got and saved a transcript of Yancy's signing day chat with the spirit pay board, and I remember something about a high school football coach (not Elliot's HS but close by) and OM alum was directly involved in recruiting Elliot to OM and trying to hide out Elliot from the MSU coaches, very similar to what they accused Gene of.

7dust claims that Freeze cussed out Elliots mother when he saw Croom and staff at the house. Apparently that sealed the deal if it wasnt already done

Surely Freezus wouldn't use profanity. Isn't he trying to play up the Good Southern Christian angle to our contrast with our supposed Yankee Heathen?
