Driscoll Closed after the 08 season. Montini won once before they closed and have 5 titles and 2 runner ups in the seven years since that happened.

My point is only one Montini team had the benefit of 3 DC players coming over from Driscoll (Campanella and two others). The rest of the success came from other components (Andriano willing to change the offense, Coach Lewis Borsellino coming from Maine South). I do say that the combination of the 3 Driscoll players coming over and Lewis joining the Bronco's changed the confidence and attitude of the team to a point they started to believe they belonged in those state title games.

You could say Naz benefited from DC also since Coach Racki went to Naz.

Driscoll had two coaches after Rack before they closed.

Burzawa went to Evanston, New (2008 Coach) went to Benet. All were part of the coaching staff when Racki was there. Mike Loconsole (Coach Loci), the genius at DC passed away during one of the state championship runs.

Nudo from the 1990 State Title team at DC now at Fenwick. Burzawa was the RB on this team.

I think the 3 outstanding football players Driscoll will be known for all-time is Greg Turner, John Tranchatella and David Schwabe.

When u run the offense that JC, MC run you need a great offensive line. Otherwise it doesn't work and can be painful to watch. Look at MC last year. I will say 2-7 for JC this year with wins over the Marians.
I agree on the wins over the Marians! It is pain full for me to watch the MCC offence, with the new coach being a JCA grad, he runs basically the same offence as JCA. It's like a step backwards from what they use to run.

Getting way off thread. But I believe that New ended up at St. Viator up until this season. Pat New at Benet I believe was an assistant at Naperville North before moving over to Benet and eventually taking over for Goforth....

Brandon New was at Benet under Pat New before taking job at Viator. They are no relation.

Don't know if Brandon New was ever at Benet, but I do know he was the last coach at Driscoll before moving on to Viator!

Yes TPF you are 100% correct on Brandon's path, although there might have been a stop at AT between Driscoll and Benet as assistants at both Benet(2011 1-8 team) and possibly AT.

Yes he coached at Driscoll, then Benet, then Viator, now Fenwick.

No game is a certainty this year, even Marian...and with Verde installing his program, they are improving.

I think this is just one of those odd years, that never happens to JCA, where it is a true re-build and not a re-load.

Ignoring the hilarity of praising a coach for "installing his program" when you don't even know he has left the school, I am more alarmed by the "they are improving" quote as it pertains to Marian Catholic.

In the three years under Verde, Marian Catholic went 0-20 in the ESCC and 4-23 overall. The 4 wins included 3 victories over bad CPL teams, and one win over Shepard.

Their current roster has 41 players on the varsity, which is really concerning when you realize that includes all of the sophomores (11) in the entire program.

This year started with a victory over another CPL team and then a 54-7 loss to Yorkville.

If there is any evidence of improvement, it certainly has not surfaced yet.

P.S. I am not blaming either of their coaches for the current state of affairs at Marian Catholic. I simply have a problem with wild claims about improvement when the poster clearly has no knowledge of their program.

Mr. "T" you seem like a man who understands football, so please enlighten me on something. Yes, you are correct MCC's head coach is a JCA graduate, however how is MCC's current offense anything like JCA's...please help me understand. Have you even been to a MCC game lately or do you just hang out in the parking lot because quite honestly they do not run "basically the same offense". Also, please humor me on how/why it is a step backwards from their previous offense as well. They seem to be winning quite a few games since the new regime took over a year plus ago. Thanks much appreciated.

Diezel66, First off do we know each other? If we do this is not the place to start a pissing match, making it personal. If we don't, this is what I see. Most of the formations look like JCA's double wing and they like to run the ball out of it. I would say 80% of the time. Now I am not an X's and O's guy so maybe the new regime's offence is completely different than JCA's and I'm an idiot! Your question on if I seen any MCC games lately? First I don't watch any games from the parking lot. My eyes aren't that good. Since the new coaching staff took over I only missed last week, which is only the 4th MCC game I missed since the 2003 season! In my opinion the new offence is a step backwards because of what most successfull schools run from 4A thru 8A. Again, that is my opinion. On a side note when it comes to last years seniors I don't think it was as much coaching that made them successful as it was the kids themselves. When they were freshman they went 18-0 between A&B games. In those wins you can include a win over last years 7A finalist Libertyville and a win over 6A champion Montini, again that's when they were freshman!

Mr. "T" no we do not know each other & I was merely just asking you a few questions & chatting...no reason to get upset/defensive. Also, I most definitely will not be getting in any pissing contests or throwing personal insults at one another...didn't think I was. You have your opinion, I have mine. However, are you honestly trying to tell me that the new regime had nothing to do with the success of their football program last year...interesting.

Did you read what I said about the coaching last year? I didn't use the phrase coaching had nothing to do with their success. I said that I feel that it was more the kids themselves than coaching that made them successful.

Mr. "T" it was a pleasure chatting with you & my original message to you was really in reference to you stating MCC's new offense is basically the same as JCA's based solely on the fact their new head coach is an alum. However, if you actually watched them both you would "basically" see two completely different offenses. Enjoy their game tonight...should be a good one.

I am from Morris but nothing gets the blood flowing like watching JCA play run football. Lets hope this reload is only temporary.I love it when the southern teams come up here to kick some *** and go home with blank look in their eyes.
