South Carolina's President talks about 9-game conference schedule starting next year. This hurts us, but could be what we waiting on to fill the empty spot on our schedule.

Also wasn't it USC that leaked info pertaining to conference expansion before? Why don't they get chastised by SECwhen they run their mouth?

Just one more tough game on the schedule every year. Not to mention that we'll have to do more buy games for OOC instead of home-and-homes or 2-for-1s. Makes it much tougher to have a 7-game home schedule every year. I'm very surprised the SEC is doing this. I'm sure Florida, USC and UGA aren't happy about this either since this gives them 10 BCS-conference games each year.

Currently, the SEC has 48 league games to offer TV. With an expansion to 14 teams and 9 games, that's 7 games per conference week, or 63 total league games. That's a more than 30% increase in the amount of available league games for TV.

That should increase the package significantly.

I don't like the 9 game schedule because it gives you a 5/4 home/road split that alternates, and also it makes it more difficult to get to bowl games.

The other problem is, for schools like ours that are fighting for 6 wins most years, you have a much more difficult route. You won't likely be able to get to 6 wins by having a schedule like yours where you might get to a bowl game with your best win being against either Kentucky or Louisiana Tech. And for the record, I've said many times that I completely agree with your scheduling philosophy. I wish we would do the same.

If we start playing 9 league games next year, we'll have no more than 2 cupcakes on our schedule each year for a while with Texas 2 years in a row, followed by Boise, followed by Clemson for 2 years. Getting to 6-6 isn't so easy when that's the schedule you play. You have have a pretty good team and only go 6-6.
