But I do remember 1984 when TCU had no answer for Kevin White, Willie Drewery and Gary Mullen in the Bluebonnet Bowl. WVU made it look easy with a 31-14 victory in the Houston Astrodome. I have to admit my first thought was TC Who?
They have been an overachiever the last few years, but life is usually kind of tough when you are a small Christian university of currently 10,000 students lost among the big guys like UT, A&M and the others. Hey, I'm impressed but WVU is generally a much larger draw with national broadcasts.
Give TCU credit, they always have near sellouts at 50,000 seat Amon G Carter Stadium whether the opponent is UT or Stephen F Austin. The donations by alumni and fans are tops in the Big 12 and although it is private, the athletic budget is believed to be close to that of WVU.
All of that combined is why they are in the Big 12. OK, there is the matter of Texas wanting them. Wasn't that also the final word for WVU?
