Could someone explain to me why Nebraska has such animus toward Texas?

All I've heard for the past week is how unhappy Nebraska is in the Big12 and how much the fans, administration, etc. hate UT. Is it because Nebraska is no longer the BMOC or what?

Nebraska has the red *** because Texas came in and changed the pay out percentages and some player qualifing standards.

The Big Ten has a larger TV market. On the flip side Nebraska has a legit chance every year to win the Big 12 north and would have a chance every year to compete with UT or OU in the championship. It seems every year that the north has a school that has a good year such as Kansas or Missouri but they never seem to keep. I would like my chances better in the Big 12 north vs going to the Big Ten but if it is about money there is little to talk about.

....... I wonder how much hell will be raised by fans (who care about wins and don't see a dime of all the new money generated) once these schools make a move to a new conference loaded with teams with talent and resources similar or more than theirs. Then they win the conference once every 10 years and play in the NC once every 20 years. I don't see how Nebraska moving to the Big10 helps them on the field at all. Their fans will grow weary of losing and the Big10 TV money will not matter at all to them.

Memo to LSU, AU, UGA, AR, TN: Kiss your chance at a conference championship and NC good bye if your new conference include less little guys and more big guys.

Maybe that is LT type vision. However, I see some schools getting their feelings hurt when all is said and done.

I think he glides through life in Nebraska somewhat like an ancient Egyptian king considered by his subjects to be a deity. He probably doesn't take to being told what to do.

and an Oklahoma grad called in. Said pretty much the same thing. Said the Texas AD had more power in the Big 12 than the commissioner. They came in and pretty much changed everything they wanted changed to benefit them.

to pretty much own the Big 12 North for the forseeable future. The Huskers' post-Osborne down cycle created a vacum allowing some of the other, smaller North schools like Kansas, Mizzou and even KSU to make runs. Once Nebraska gets back to their usual form - which I think they're on track to do - they'll be playing in the conference championship game most years. It goes without saying, but it will be interesting to see all this plays outs.

As far as any possible SEC expansion goes, the only way I'd be in favor of adding more schools is if it resulted in the creation of two more divisions with two semi-final games to decide who goes to Atlanta.
