conference this year with just 3 semi-decent teams - UTEP, UAB &
Memphis. Almost all mid-majors have 2-3 semi-decent teams. Their resume
isn't that bad at all (RPI: 35; 2-1 vs top 50; 2 >100 losses) but it
doesn't have the 'wow' factor either for an at-large mid-major team. I think Missouri
State got left out with and RPI of high 20s a few years ago...According
to wiki, Missouri State was #21.
If New Mexico State upsets Utah State tonight, I
could see UTEP being left out in order to
accommodate one of the teams from a power conference.
