According to Donald Jackson, the NCAA is requesting to see documentation verifying the SOURCE of every deposit to the Sidney's bank account over the last several years.

Documentation behind EVERY deposit? I don't have anything to hide (financially), and there's no way in hell I could do that.

but there's no way I could verify the "source" of a deposit.

I think the ncaa is sandbagging and asking for absurd stuff, Jackson is grand standing and doing more sh*t stirring than anything. I'll suit up for bball before Sidney does.

How often do you make cash deposits? I have automatic deposit for my employment and I sometimes deposit expense checks or other checks, but rarely do I deposit cash. It happens if I take money out to go the casino, but most of the time its checks.

How much cash does someone deposit in a year? I know for me its less than a 1,000.00 bucks. I would think that is fairly normal.

Not many people get paid in straight cash anymore. Unless you are a hooker, drug dealer, gambler, or Ricky Roe.

cash deposits. i bet that is the problem.

the problem that I have is why in the hell would you deposit cash in the first place if it came from a shady source? i know i wouldn't. the fireproof safe would have plenty of cash in it if i were them. hell i am not them and the safe still has cash from working some side jobs.

next time you're in a convenience store, take note of how many people come in to pay for gas with cash. Most don't have bank cards because they don't have accounts. The Bank isn't for everybody. It's very reasonable to believe that, regardless of whether wrongdoing ever occurred, the bank records requested by the NCAA are a cluster-17.

If you believe the public land records valuing a home they lived at in L.A. at 1.2 million and paying 4k to 5K a month in rent, then I would think a bank would be for them.

Since they were writing checks, Im assuming they did have a bank.

If this was a poor kid from the delta or Northeast MS who's family didn't have a pot to piss in, then it would seem believable that they didn't have bank records and the family just lived off cash made by working manual labor.

The Sidney are not in this boat.

That being said, I still think Sidney gets cleared.

I'm sure they utilized a bank and therein lies the problem.

All it takes is one phone call to the bank. The bank has copies of everything the NCAA wants. All it takes is one phone call and they could have it all ready within a week or two to send to the NCAA. They just refuse to do it.

ETA: As mentioned, the bank records may not show all that the NCAA wants to see, but they could produce months and months worth of bank records including records of deposit amounts, etc. if they want to do it. The source of those deposits may be harder to trace, but they could at least show them.

and I had already made that point in an earlier thread with the last NCAA request asking for this along with cell phone records. But I guess if the NCAA continues asking for things that are impossible or very difficult to produce and won't clear an athlete without them, then by default they have made it nearly impossible for him to be cleared and have achieved their objective.

What I don't understand is why Jackson continues to harp only on deposit side of bank records request? If someone was paying the family's rent and other living expenses, showing the deposits only gives zero clarity.

Did he turn over the bank statements or not? Yes or No. Don't tell me everything you think you've done or all the smoke and mirrors. Answer that one simple question. If the answer is an unqualified "Yes" then I am much more sympathetic to Sidney and pissed at the NCAA. If the Sidney's truly turned over the complete bank statements and not just deposit records then the NCAA actions are unconscionable Anything other than an unqualified "Yes" and I still want Sidney to play for us but I can't see the NCAA allowing it outside of a court order of some type.

Could it be that NCAA is using Sidney to further its investigation of USC? Are they fishing for cash deposits from USC athletics and/or alumni?

you can get bank records for days but that won't show you all the deposit sources. Do banks have a copy of every check that is deposited? I don't know, perhaps they do and that could be eventually retrieved but I wouldn't have it personally. I do know that nobody is going to know the source of a cash deposit. This whole thing is a sham and this type info has been asked of NO other prospective student athlete that I know of and that's what makes it different. If this was routine, like getting academic records I wouldn't have a problem with it but supposedly the Sidneys have given the NCAA a reasonable source of where money to live in the house came from. At this point, it SHOULD be time to put up or shut up as far as the NCAA is concerned. You could string someone out forever trying to get them to prove something DIDN'T happen. The NCAA either needs to allege an amateur violation or move on to something else and let the kid play.

at a very high fee. Could show everything except were the cash came from...but deposit tickets reflect if it's cash, etc.

BUT, this deal would stop right in it's tracks...asking for all of mine, and my families phone records for 3or 4 years....go 17 yourself, NCAA.

Jackson is saying the only thing in question is the source of deposits of the NON PROFIT summer league camp Sr ran... this is an attorney talking directly to the media saying it simply can't be done...interesting

this would be some type of bidness account... seems like the personals are all accounted for if I'm reading it right and Jackson isn't bull shitting...

Lot of factors could come into play, did his bank experience some sort of technical problems, and lost the data? not likely Back up info is sent to offsite storage.
How many banks have they used?
The data is very likely available, but it is time consuming and expensive to retrieve.

IT WAS FILMED!

And if it is cash, then even harder to verify where it came from and that is my guess. Mr. Sidney made some large cash deposits under the $10 K rule and is not going to disclose the source because it came from agents or USC/UCLA boosters...
