I think the loss Thurs will be the end of Stansbury. Baseball team is better than last year...if we get hot at right time watch out. The thing is the program is only going to get stronger....it takes a few years to develop and build a pitching staff. Mercer is a homerun machine...we need to take lessons or borrow their Reebok bats. 80 HR last year and 24 already this year. Autry will put us over the hump into a top 10 defense. Offensively...if that JC left tackle is as good as i think we should be more balanced. If we dont significantly improve offensively I'll be shocked. It also helps our most winnable SEC games are at home.

Random questions... Is that forrest moore suit still going on? Why did John Bond go on shows and drag out stuff for weeks and all that turned out for nothing.

because we lacked talent and had a poor mentality that had to be changed.

The pitching staff took longer because Cohen and Thompson had nothing to work with and then we were forced to pitch a ton of freshmen the next year. We still lacked depth in the pitching staff the next year, but it was obvious that we were getting better and now we have a staff that should be competitive in the SEC. We also lacked defense and that inflated our pitching stats to a degree.

Fortunately, Cohen has changed the culture of MSU baseball- which is to be expected because this team was basically recruited by his staff- and that is the first step to winning a championship. I do not believe you can win a championship if your attitude is more concerned about things outside of MSU baseball that are out of your control, being worried about keeping promises and trying to make sure that everyone has a good experience and by blaming things on dumb luck all the time- ie "That's baseball". (I used to tell my friends "That's bad baseball") I know there are some Polk apologists that would vehemently disagree with me, but the proof is in the pudding.

For example- the injuries we've had lately. Polk would have likely used those as an excuse for poor play- as well as being young. Cohen just adjusted the lineup, and changed his style to be a little bit more aggressive to offset the losses and at least for last night, we played well and were able to beat a quality team.

Im so excited for the future because we are watching the beginning of what we all knew MSU baseball could and should be...a championship program.

In fact, i think the culture change is university wide and across all athletics...thats another reason i think Stans is gone.

because he didn't recruit well enough to maintain depth. He'd have some good starters, but not much after, usually. At least in his 2nd go at it. Unfortunately in 2008 he didn't have starters either (esp. pitching, thanks McNickle). <div>
</div><div>I'm not going to go all crazy and say Polk was a bad coach. Had he hired a big time recruiter he probably would have been much more successful the second time around.</div>

I don't keep track of the minor sports, but I believe we will have changed football, baseball, women's bball (only because of retirement), tennis, and softball.
