Against my better judgement I caved and got the vaccine. We'll see if it works for me. One encouraging thing I read on Forbes a couple days ago saying that booster shots might not be necessary.
Rod, I know a few here have got the jab and hope that you all stay healthy.

My issue is being told that I must get it or I can’t come out to play. There is no rhyme or reason given just that I must get the jab and carry papers stating so without any regards to my current health status.
That is my issue.

No need for all this speculation, we have 180 million US confirmed data points.

No one should be forced to get a vaccine, but the truth is

The Best thing for the country
The best thing for the economy
The lowest medical cost
The best thing for retail, dining, travel
The best thing for small business and big business
The best thing for education

The answer to every question is to encourage the 75 million eligible americans who have not been vaccinated to get vaccinated ASAP. There is just no other correct answer. The data is overwhelming. Catching covid is 8:1, hospitalzation 15:1, death 100:1. How can anyone argue against those numbers. It is unfortunate we need to put in some muscle at this point, but the 60% who are vaccinated really do not want to see the economy go down the *******.

No one is speculating except the clueless. We were told to shut down for 2 weeks to flatten the curve and yet here we are 1.5 years later with more draconian nonsense.

The “best thing” for you is not for others. Deal with it.

I have been accosted before while walking outside in a parking lot, when nobody was within 25’ of me for being without a mask.

Another lie discovered by Gateway, those guys are amazing. Tell me about Idaho, another lie? The covid answer is so simple, maybe that is the issue.
Do you understand compounding 10% of 10% of 10% goes from 1:10 to 1:1000, that is how we end this

So if the narrative doesn’t fit, just call them lies?

Okay, more lies….

I feel the problem is when these rare cases of extremes crop up from either side (pro/anti mask) and suggest this is somehow representative of either side. I don't wear a mask when outdoor unless I feel I cannot control my immediate surroundings to maintain that ~ 6-12 ft perimeter.

I haven't personally witnessed these "mobs" you speak of, but I don't doubt they exist. I'd say these occurrences use any mandates as an excuse to play out these folks' nature of power-trips...and if it wasn't about masks, they'd be getting-off on something else (Nextdoor shaming about neighbor's lawn). These Karens don't represent the norm anymore than the anti-mask whackos fighting flight attendants. I agree one side gets more media coverage.

If we're arguing the execution of masking, I'm all for it. There should be limits and logic to everything. But to argue masking is 100% pointless and you're being lied to by some global cabal...that's where you lose me.

you are the one exposing lies, that is all you ever do. Everything is a lie. I posted real statistics, the real truth is Idaho is rationing medical service because they are out of beds because Idaho has one of the lowest vax rates in the country

Don’t remember saying mobs, but if that’s how you make your point, have at it. Funny thing is many of the very same people who speak the need for this are the very worst violators in their own lives. Throwing mega parties, going to restaurants, concerts. Hell I never heard the mask words during any news broadcast during the summer protests, but the day AFTER the election LA decided it was time… really?

There's the truth, then there's what people do. It's no different than a minister that has an affair w/ a congregant. It doesn't make his faith a farce, it makes him and her a farce.

You're right. I expose your lies on a daily basis.

Do you ever question where the CDC gets their numbers or how they were derived?

Speaking of the CDC, why aren't you concerned about these numbers?

But when it’s the whole hierarchy, you need to take a step back and take a better look at who’s leading you and where they’re headed. I’m not advocating any political outlook.

Whenever a particular "side" pushing a particular initiative start to run amok, it's up to prominent voices from that side to speak truth to power and rein-in that overreach. I've heard several voices like Bill Maher and others who have gone to battle against their own "side" to try and corral some overreach and good intentions gone-wild.

I've had this very debate/argument w/ my kids when they've tried to pressure me to wear a mask outdoors. I ask them, "Who are you protecting out here?" It's in their nature to not agree and argue, but I hope some of my arguments get through...eventually.

I’m not for or against this vaccine. I’m against all the mandates for it but that’s a different matter. I know lots of people that got it, and only one that’s had any issues. But I believe it’s gotta be a personal choice. For me and my family who are young and healthy, we’ll hold off for now. Just had COVID go through our house in the last few weeks and all cases extremely mild. I didn’t even realize I had it until I lost taste and smell. I’ve never gotten a flu shot in my life and can’t remember the last time I got the flu. Good immune system I guess.

You must not get out much.

I know one very nice guy who thought it was no big deal and people have to get on with their lives. He didn’t get to get on with his life.

I can’t count all the people I know personally who caught it and were sick as dogs for weeks. Some in hospital.

Then there are the health care people I know personally, who were drowning in sick covid patients.
You believe all the panic porn don't you? I am sure you voted no on the recall. If you want to live in fear, knock yourself out.

I agree it being OT but I'm going to guess you were pro lockdowns and are pro mandates and pro masks. Generally it seems that one side likes to close down debate more than the other.
I’m pro not dying and pro to keeping the board about football. If y’all were talking about how the actual requirements were going to effect the OSU game that’s one thing. You guys took this in another direction.

Who is pro dying? stop gaslighting. I went to Megadeth two weeks ago and by looking at the mosh pit from my lower level seats, I'd say the panic to COVID is highly overblown and hardly a concern to most people. My father with serious cardio pulmonary issues was told by his doctor that if he got COVID he would die. He stayed in his house for eight months. My sister a pro mask hospital social worker got COVID from her husband and they in turn gave it to my parents, including my mom a breast cancer survivor. They both got their asses kicked but they lived.Moral of story, the disease is waiting whether you like it or not.

Precautions are fine if they are true mitigates, but masks and social distancing are barely band aids. Their impact on transmission is infinitesimal. In terms of vaccination that is whole other argument that requires more than this back and forth. There are concepts of acceptable risk, making educated decisions on ones health choices, constitutional rights, among other things not to mention the experimental and possibly dangerous nature of this medication.

The politics of COVID is real. I would advise everybody to question everything and accept nothing at face value. I have a natural distrust of bureaucracies, and the power behind them. Therefore I rely on my reason, education, intuition, experience, advice of those I trust. This level of coercion is dangerous to all of us. Not just those that happen to be targeted. So with that I'll leave you with three quotes

For whom the bell tolls? It tolls for thee
Those that sacrifice Liberty for security deserve neither
get busy living or get busy dying.

Now move this thread to OT
Tell that to people that lost loved ones. They don’t feel the same way. Directly for me it is 2 but the 7 degrees of separation it is pretty big.

I have found mask to be very helpful but I have bad allergies and living in the iE it helps to wear during wind season. So some of the precautions that we are being told to do I will continue to practice. But, there are folks that wear mask all the time . They seem to stay healthy and not catch the flu and other colds. They might be on to something.
I’m that person that for the most part will mind my own business. If you don’t wear a mask, that’s your choice. If you don’t wash your hands, I might call you a cochino in my mind but I’m not going to put you on blast. Here is the gen X’er, I don’t care enough about people I don’t know to worry about their decisions. If they want to hang out however they hang out and possibly get sick that’s on them. I only care about the people I love and will give them guidance but they might not follow it.
that’s why I tell people to try and stay safe.

Ucla is a weird school. Students don’t start class until like Halloween or something. Maybe Fresno fans will get them closer to 10,000.
I think they started this week or maybe next week. I was by UCSB yesterday and saw the students moving in.

I just saw an article online that claims one in 500 Americans have died from being infected with the Wuhan bug. Over 650,000 Merikans. Oreally?

I find that curious because no one I know has died, and no one I know knows anyone who has died, from this gift from the Peoples Republic of China. In fact I don’t even know anybody who has contracted the Wuhan.

I call bullsh*t.
I know many who have had Covid, including myself, my 21 year old daughter and several close friends. I also know a few who died from it, including my mom (she was 90 with failing health) and a couple of friends.
