Political affiliation wasn't it because trump helped create the vaccines.
Instead you had one group that places a high amount of trust in government and appeals to authority and one that doesn't. Just so happens those are also traits highly indicative of political affiliation.
Yes, you’re correct … vaccine hesitancy was in place before the mRNA vaccines were available.

Covid vaccine fraud absolutely lit fire to overall vaccine hesitancy. Its easy to see that logic: if they will so blatantly lie about that, what else are they lying about?
They're not wrong, but still imo people should evaluate the value of each vaccine on its own rather than whole cloth refusing all.
It wasn't political affiliation: it was rural vs urban. Rural people were simply much more skeptical, and those people tend to be conservative.
If you controlled for this, as someone competent without an axe grind would (read, not Vox), then you would see political affiliation wasn't correlated at all. Urban conservatives were no less likely, controlling for age, than urban liberals to get "vaccinated" for Covid.
It always was the obvious answer. Created in a lab at UNC further developed at Wuhan. Bill Gates, Fauci and the like explicitly and openly guaranteed a major pandemic before Trump's first term ended. I and others were pointing this out before this thing even really took shape.
Well, you'd like to give people the benefit of, "you wouldn't purposely release a bio weapon on humanity." Lab leak, sure, accidents happen. But with intent... needed more evidence to make that leap.
