The sun has finally come out from behind the clouds and it is a happy day again. Good luck to everyone but especially good luck to the CPL teams playing after a short week of practices. And with that we’ll get to the picks!

Orr vs St Edwards
Orr is a conference champ. Orr won a playoff game last year. Orr’s QB is the front runner for my all CPL qb selection(CPL Pick’Em, all CPL Team coming soon). If I’m in a boat, I want an Orr. What do I know about St. Edwards? Nothing, maybe one of the catholic school guys on this board can tell me a little about why Edward is a saint. Until then Road the Boat!!

Carver vs Paxton-Buckley-Loda
Hold on this game is weird. Carver seems like a much more normal name while Paxton-Buckley-Loda sounds like it belongs in the city. When in doubt, pick the hyphens.

Dunbar vs Eureka
I once coached with a guy who played for Eureka, used to just sub random dudes in. We’d be on the sideline asking who put a WR in at guard? Why is the starting LT in the backfield? Drove me crazy. You know who doesn’t make crazy subs like this? Dunbar! Might be because they only have like 12 dudes so they can’t sub but I’m all about eliminating problems anyway you can. Only issue with Dunbar, occasional weak ankles.

Payton vs Fenwick
I would like to thank the Payton coach for his help in getting the CPL teams practice with non union coaches on Wednesday which is why I am lucky enough to kick back at my desk, step away from work and break down some CPL pick’em! While I thank George for that, not sure they’re going to have enough to take down the Friars!

Kenwood vs Riverside Brookfield
Everyone loves Bulldogs. Knew a crazy guy who had a bulldog. Used to do tackling drills without pads on, the other guy always had pads on. Got his head bounced like a basketball a few times, but he was a a good guy. If I want to see a bulldog I can just call him. Everyone loves horses. But I don’t know anyone with a horse! That solves it for me go with #HorsePower

Oh CPL, I have missed you so. I've tried to comment on other threads the last couple of weeks, but it just doesn't have the same feeling, you know? You want true tingly feelings? Get to pickin' in CPL Pick 'em!

I looked it up, St. Edward is the patron saint of difficult marriages... With that knowledge bomb, I know a bunch of guys on this board are going to be buying those St. Edward necklace medals in bulk during playoff season...
With that said, my wife assures me my marriage is fine.

Carver vs Paxton-Buckley-Loda
I, much like the OP, tend to lean toward picking teams with hyphens. I mean, a combination of two or more great things is usually better than one great thing, right? So I have to go with three hyphens....NOT SO FAST....Legend says George Washington Carver discovered peanut butter...goes great with chocolate...Pick the father of the Reese's cup.

Eureka is the name of a vacuum manufacturer. My wife makes me vacuum. I hate vacuuming. Take the Mightymen of Dunbar.

Phoenix vs Coal City
Coal City. I know nothing about it, but it sounds like a place where dudes slam Bud Heavies and smoke too many Marlboro Reds. My kind of town. Coal City.

Payton vs Fenwick
Payton. Isn't this the team that plays a weak CPL schedule, gets 9 wins and then gets hammered by a 30+ seed in the IHSA playoffs every year? This year they only got 8 games, but we all know the story. Running clock by halftime. Fenwick.

Simeon vs Lakes
Lakes? The poor, one named, step sister of the Crystal Lakes. This step sister doesn't get a Cinderella Story....Simeon.

Kenwood vs Riverside Brookfield
Riverside Brookfield. Two names, but no hyphen? Bold. Very Bold. I like bold, but I like chopping wood more. Keeps a guy warm this time of year...Pick Kenwood.

Phillips vs Lincoln Way West
There is another Lincoln Way besides East? You certainly wouldn't know it around here...

CPL Pick 'Em resurrected from the dead, on Halloween no less! Let's get the scare underway.

Orr vs St. Ed's - Last time I was at Gately, Orr was running that ground and pound running game right through everyone. Don't see it stopping now. Row the Boat!

Carver vs Paxton-Buckley-Loda - They really should start hyphening some of these CPS schools that have 15 kids a side. We'd really start to see some better competition. And while Carver was the peanut butter guy, Buckley is one of the better winter beers you can get your hands on. I'll go with the Transient beer out of SW Michigan.

Harlan vs Durand-Pedatonica Co-op - Harlan has some big scary looking dudes that are involved when they play. But when I hear Pedatonica, I can't help but think of the Hanukkah Song, so I'll see your Pedatonica, and smoke your marijuanica while we drink our gin and tonica all the way to victory.

Dunbar vs Eureka - Dunbar is the Might Men, Eureka is the Hornets. I mean if you have a funky name like Eureka you really need to step up your nickname a whole extra level. So underwhelmed by the boring hornets. Dunbar gets it.

Phoenix vs Coal City - Rising from the ashes, right? Not when you can create your own ash from all that coal. Phoenix might stop the game after 1st quarter. Get ready for next year.

Payton vs Fenwick - This game pains me greatly. 20 years ago today we lost Sweetness. He then lifted Bryan Robinson (also RIP) to miraculously block the kick and beat the Packers. Payton channels this energy this weekend shocking everyone and sends the Friars packing.

Simeon vs Lakes - My whole back yard is a lake because of this dam weather. Screw all lakes. Give me Simeon

Kenwood vs Riverside-Brookfield - Strike ended, Kenwood immediately called out R-B on twitter. Someone let @Oldtakesexposed know. RB in a landslide.
