Serious question. Is basketball taken more seriously at CPS because it requires less revenue to field a basketball team then a football team?I’ve always thought lack of funding was the biggest obstacle to the success of many SPS football programs. Most successful football programs, if not all, have booster clubs to help with revenue. Is any of that happening in any of that CPS schools?

Revenue is a decent portion of it but it's way more complex than that. Although I guess if you are adding facilities into the revenue/funding, then you are starting to get more of a clear picture.

What conference you in?

I'm a fan of all conferences lol. TBH I don't really want to share my ties at this time, maybe later. I am just someone who hopelessly dreams of some type of sustainable changes within CPS. There are a ton of outstanding young men and women competing in all sports who just want an opportunity to change their futures and get out of here. I'm just trying to help.

Very few if any schools have booster clubs, hell just getting parents to come to the games and watch their young men play is a chore at most schools. Shoestring budget is what you get at best. The more successful programs regularly fight to keep any money made from state games from being dumped into the general fund and never being seen again.

The whole conference thing in CPS needs to change. Currently, most sports at most schools play in different conferences. There is no chance to build rivalries or any kind of consistency across programs. The best thing CPS could do is to re-organize every 3 to 5 years by school enrollment. That way the larger schools are always playing each other in every sport, and so on. If you have a rivalry in a particular sport schedule them in nonconference matchups. The whole promotion and relegation thing is ridiculous at best.

I can think of one head coach who will likely make the playoffs that probably could not name all the teams in his conference, let alone accurately seed a playoff bracket.

I can't wait until every one is in and you get two 0-9 teams have a play-in game on Wednesday then the winner forfeit their Saturday game like Argo baseball did vs MC this year.

Another thing with letting everyone in, the same teams who complain about not getting in will basically be playing the same teams they cant beat in the regular season in the first round since it will set by geography.
Why did Argo forfeit the baseball game?

They need to fix the Prep Bowl playoffs.Have the top 16 Chicago and 16 Illini and 16 Intra City teams make the prep bowl playoffs.Intra City Champ vs Chicago Conference teams in semis as well as 2 top Illini teams.Give everyone a shot.It is stupid not to let Intra City teams get a shot and Chicago Conference and 2 at that can only make state and nobody makes prep bowl

It was scheduled 3.5 hours before graduation. Argo made up some crap about needing to take 294 to the IKE to get to MC and would not enough time. You can take 63rd or 67th and get their in a half hour from Argo to MC.

These teams need to be punished in football, baseball, all sports who forfeit. Here where I live one of the playoff teams(got in at 1-9) were scheduled to play #2 team in the state in round 1.They didn't want to get blown out and it was a 2 1/2 hour ride so they forfeited.$1,000 fine by TSSAA,All non football sports post season banishment for 1 year and football 3 year post season banishment

Pat is a goof for applauding Argo.Seeing is how they didn't field a Frosh football team I can see quitting is in their blood.Nobody wants to Coach Football there. That is why that goof stayed there all those years despite a horrible record. That is almost as bad as when the Trib & Sun Times kissed the tails of a CPS school for refusing to play a downstate school nicknamed the Rebels in football. In reality they knew they were going to get it handed to them and took the chicken way out.
