Tut mir lied wenn Deutsche.

As a semi-Falcons fan, I'm disgusted and disappointed that the Aints capture the allegiance of every county in Mississippi. But hell, Bammer too? Other than the one pocket of random Cowboy fans and the far east.

This is interesting. High-res version here.

Is 2009 when you scratched through "The New Orleans Saints" in your sig line? I know what you mean, but I grew up in Starkville and never understood why people reflexively cheered for the Saints when the Falcons were an equal distance away. Yet they did, even during many terrible, terrible years.

The random pockets of Cowboy fans around the country almost 20 years after their last Super Bowl win impresses me, I guess.

I'm surprised the Raiders don't have any more pull in the Bay Area than they do--mostly fans down south hoping they return to LA. The Broncos have more reach than I would've expected, too.

I can't

speak as to everywhere else in the state, but I'm from Jackson and NO is only 2.5 hours away, so it was pretty much a no-brainer...I would assume all counties south of Hinds were like this, too.

Yep, and I guess they also only show Saints games on TV in Mississippi when they broadcast NFC regional games.

Hancock county probably went from green to green to purple in a span of 3 years before finally giving up and becoming gold.

I'm calling ******** on Memphis being the Cowboys. Lived here most of my adult life and I NEVER heard anyone talk about the Cowboys. You hear mostly Titans and next is Saints and then a little Falcons and Rams. Seriously, not once in my entire time here have I heard of anyone rooting for the Cowboys. Hell, I see more flags for the Steelers here.

Speaking of random Steelers flags, check out the pocket in South Carolina. Or maybe those are Jacksonville fans?

I can't find a larger version of this map, but I'm guessing the navy blue pockets in Florida are transplanted NYG fans and not Cowboy fans, too.

There's cowboys fans all over Memphis and I hate because all we get are 17ing Titans and Cowboys games every week.

Funny, I've lived here for years, and was surprised by the Cowboys also, but only because I expected Steelers. Based on the flags flying, I would've guessed Steelers, then Cowboys, then Titans.

If the Cowboys or Titans aren't on it's one of the Mannings. My only hope is that one if those 4 teams is playing someone I care to watch.

Show this before 2009 and I wonder how it goes.
Not going to argue there are a ton of bandwagoners now, but I don't know how much it changed. The Saints have done a lot to market their brand in Mississippi. They've had 2 of Ole Miss's all-time greatests, Joe Horn was a local, they played in Jackson, they trained in Jackson...

Sean Payton was suppose to do the commencement speech at USM a couple of years ago too.

I think 1/4 of their season ticket holders are Mississippi residents.

There are probably as many Dallas fans in northwestern Louisiana as there are NO fans

Memphis hates the Titans.

Not surprised by this. Memphis didn't support them when they played in the Liberty Bowl for a year.

I am surprised that the Titans didn't reach into N. Alabama at all.

Me too. Them and the Falcons are the primary television teams here; the Saints are never on unless it's a Monday or Thursday night game. I don't understand why the Saints are shown as the number one team on the map for north Alabama. I'd say, based on people I know, it's Atlanta number one, Titans number two, and then other random teams like the Packers, Vikings, Colts (fairly close proximity, and Manning used to be there), and Denver (Manning). I would have guessed New Orleans would be well down the list.
