Why did the kid in white not just hold the ball? Or throw it high in the air? That was a crazy scene but the refs got it right.

Low basketball IQ...

Too many athletes think they're good players because they can run and jump. Physical ability IS a big part of the game, but mental mistakes lose most game.

On a side note, few HS players can tell you the dimensions of the ball, court, goal, rim, and backboard. Many can't explain how the number of team fouls ties in to when and how many FT's the other team is awarded. Very few (if any) can tell you how far (from the rim) a free shot is much less the origin of the phrases, "low post" and "high post".

The others are valid but who gives a 17 about the dims. Football players wouldn't know theirs if it wasn't written on the field.

Because there's never a bad time to bring up Bryce Drew...

According to a recent SI article, the coach at New Rochelle played college ball at Buffalo. During his time there, they were beaten by Valparaiso for their conference's NCAA bid, which led to Drew's shot. So the final play in the clip by New Rochelle is the same play that Valpo ran for Drew. They even called the play "Valpo".

What a great shot. Two things I also noticed:

One of the refs must have been punched in a game before. Notice he covers his head and gets outta there when everyone rushes the court.

What is up with the one security guard trying to stop everyone from celebrating after the call was made?
