should the SEC continue down their current path of MAD and go the way of the SWC, what would you want for YOUR school? <div>
</div><div>1. Join anotherconference? If so, which one and what SEC schools would you like to see follow?</div><div>2. Start a new conference? If so, who would be in this new conference and what would you call it?</div><div>3. Go independent?</div><div>
</div><div>I'd vote Bama go the Independent route and try to keep 4-5 former SEC members (specifically AU and UT) on the schedule with the rest of the schedule comprised of mid-level programs and cupcakes.</div>

we'd have to try to join another conference. best bet would be if there is a rush to build 16 team conferences and we got absorbed into the texas 10 i guess. we couldn't survive as an independent.

I'm afraid that we would play the role of Houston if the SEC were to disband. Here is what I could see happening.

1. The ACC would invite South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee and form a 16 team super conference. I think these four schools wouldn't want anything to do with the SEC West teams.
2. Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State would go after Arkansas, LSU, Alabama and Auburn. This would be our best shot at staying in the party - if they wanted 12, I would think they would have to take State/Ole Miss as well as Baylor/Texas Tech. This would be a strong football focused conference, and would be dominant. I'm not sure I would want to be part of this.
3. Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State would be looking to form another conference, eyeing Kentucky and possibly Vanderbilt, and trying to woo Cincy and Louisville from the Big East. It could be a heck of a basketball conference.
4. Texas Tech, Baylor, Mississippi State and Ole Miss would be stranded, unless options 2 or 3 decided to go to 12, which I don't think they would. Icould see a scenario where Houston, Rice, SMU, possibly TCU, as well as Louisiana Tech and possibly Memphis formed what would be a middle of the pack conference that had strength in baseball.
