Western Albemarle 38, Louisa 30
One of the biggest high school football upsets since I've been following it. Louisa was a 40+ point favorite in this one. That means there is only about a 1 in 1000 chance or so of an upset. I can only remember one other time a 40 plus favorite lost (Powhatan to Prince Edward many years ago). This throws my whole world view out of whack.
Powhatan 28, Charlottesville 14
Score wise this doesn't surprise me. CalPreps had the Indians as 12 point favorites.
Albemarle 41, Fluvanna 20
This is closer than I expected (2nd week in a row the Flucos have kept the score respectable. I don't think we learn much from this score.
Orange 56. Monticello 35.
Also about what I expect. Maybe a hair more scoring than I was expecting. Like I said last week, I think Albemarle and Powhatan should be glad they got their wins on Orange and won't see them again. The Hornets are steadily improving.
Ranking the teams now? How about a pack of 7 real close teams in the middle and Fluvanna by itself in tier two. Now I've decided playoff wins are going to be hard to get by any of these teams.
