Nov. 28, 1942: The Eagles were No. 1, undefeated and scarcely scored upon, allowing only 19 points in eight games -- all of which were played in Boston. But the trip from nearby Worcester to play in a packed Fenway Park took nothing out of the Crusaders, who were just 4-4-1. The shocking result put such a damper on the Eagles that they canceled a postgame party at the Cocoanut Grove nightclub. It turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to the team -- the club burned down that night, killing 492 people.</p>
