Critical games....

Took my first close look at the Football schedule. With bowling being the goal, it appears to me there are three games: Mississippi St, USC and Missouri are critical. Assuming we take care of business with the games we should win ( Southern Miss, New Mex St, APSU and vandy), we'll need to win 2 out of 3 against against those teams. Unfortunately, not even the latter four are gimme's.

It's gonna be tough sledding just to get six wins as I don't see us winning any of the other 5 games.

Agree, though we have lost 6 or 7 in a row to MSU, so I'll have to see us beat Mullen before I believe it.

I think Georgia, Florida, and UL are winnable (that doesn't mean I think we win them, but we shouldn't go in thinking that we have no chance). Bama and UT are probably unwinnable this year, but the other 10 games are.

I would swap Vandy and USC in your groupings. On paper, USC this year will be approaching what UK looked like in 2012/2013. I would considerable them to be our most winnable SEC game. Vandy is definitely winnable, I just don't like the fact that we play at Alabama the week before. I just hope we don't get too beat up mentally and physically from playing Bama.

In summary, I think we have a realistic shot at 6-6. Of course, I thought the same thing last year ....

Southern miss, Austin peay, and NMSU are should be's. I believe the most critical definitely have to be vandy, Missouri and South Carolina. These 6 games are very important in order to get 6 wins we need to go 5-1 during the span. Going 4-2 is attainable but getting 2 more wins will be very very challenging.

A green as grass, untested qb, a questionable OL and a more than questionable DL will get us 5 wins. A bit of luck or a stroke of genius will get us six. This team could beat Ga yet lose to Austin Peay. The only sure thing is a loss to Bama and another butt kicking by UT.

Take Southern Miss out of the "should win" category. That game is going to be way tougher for us to win than our fanbase is expecting. I honestly don't think we win that game unless our offense can move the ball and score some points.

Southern Miss will put up points on our defense, and probably do so in an embarrassing fashion. Take that to the bank.

Also, any one thinking we will beat Florida this year needs to stop drinking their blue tinted moonshine. It's obvious you got a bad batch and are going blind.

I know plenty of football people I trust who think Vandy is going to be a vastly better team than both Mizzou and South Carolina. defensively just flat out NASTY, same guys who stoned us on the goal line (with some great help from Dawson's cowardly scared playcalling) still there, a year older & better.

to go bowling, or a rerun of easiest to least winnable games topic:

Austin Peay
NMST
South Carolina
Southern Miss
Mizzou
UL
Vandy
Miss St
Florida
Georgia
UT
Bama

Boy, 5 wins will bring out the Stoops knives.

Another 5 win season and it curtains for this staff.
just with some fans, not with anyone who really matters given the Dec 2016 buyout number VS Dec 2017

barring an 0-12 season or a Baylor/Pitino level off the field scandal Mark Stoops will be University of Kentucky football coach in 2017, and if you refuse to realize that it is on y'all

I think UK has a much better chance of beating Vandy or Miss. State than they do Louisville.

If UK sticks with Stoops after a 4 win or fewer season, that buyout will be the least of their concerns financially. The fan support will vaporize to an IU level of complete indifference that might not recover for decades.

I see no more than 5 wins unless the new assistant coaches are better than advertised. Stoops will be back for 2017 unless we win 3 games or less (Barney has us all in with Stoops). On the bright side, this team will go bowling for sure in 2017 and the Barney for AD of the year talk will begin.

UK fans bounce back like an illegal golf ball. Give us a hamburger and we'll make it a banquet. Decades mean nothing to us.

I will be 60 in August, for UK every game on the schedule is a critical game. Go Cats!

4 wins is more likely than 6, I fear.

Southern Miss may end all optimism for the entire season.

Many fans point to the Vandy loss last season was a game we should have won.
That may be true.
But the win against EKU was a total embarrassment.

5 Wins keeps him here. I almost think it has to be 3 wins or less to get him fired. That would probbaly mean going winless in the SEC which would drive the fans away like Joker's last year. I'm in the 4-8 camp. That means wins against the should be teams and 1 win in the SEC against Mizz, USC, and Vandy. We could get 5 going 2 out of 3 against those 3 which is certainly plausible. But right now, UK has to prove it to me on the field. I thought 6-6 last year and won't be Charlie Brown'd again this year.
