succeeded in making our football team a joke, he has also killed any joy I got out of State football.

If you want hope there is only one way.

Boycott.

I know, I know. That's cuckoo crazy talk. But it the only way to change this ****.

Croom has to be gone. It will be the same **** next year. No matter how much you hope and wish and want it to be different, it won't be. We will have to fire his *** next year anyway. Let's get it over with and start over.

It has to be done.

Now.

If you don't think so, you are a part of the problem

Mr. Byrne, it's time.

I just can't do that. I enjoy starkville. I enjoy tailgating. I enjoy going to the games (even when we suck). Why should I have to stop doing something I enjoy doing just because of an incompetent coach. I'll just be the vocal leader in trying to get him fired.

Plus, I've paid money for tickets, so dang it, I'm gonna use them.

Notice my first sentence.

He has taken the joy of State football from me.

I was like you at the end of the Jackie era. I still went.

I just can't do it any more.

as soon as you get you ticket brochures in the mail next year... mark them return to sender and leave them in the box for the postman to pick back up. Even if you want to buy tickets ( couldn't imagine why) do it online. that is what I did in 06

I had season tickets every year, Section C row 25 for 8 consecutive years through 2006. I finally had enough, and even though we won 8 games last year it didn't bother me in the least that I missed any of it. Why? Because we were lucky to win those games and we were boring as hell doing it. I knew we'd go back to sucking this year and sadly I was right.</p>

If people don't boycott the games, that's their choice, but I hope they understand that by going they're sending a message that they accept the losing. They may not actually accept it, but it appears that way. Nothing talks like very poor attendance. </p>

Five years ago, losing pissed me off. Today, i simply chuckled.

We went from losing to becoming the Syracuse of the South under Croom. I use to follow this team everywhere up until 2006. But im sick of it. It sucks going to games hoping to score a touchdown. One (17) touchdown. Consistency is being in the bottom 100 five years in a row. And Croom say this: Execute and We Need more pick sixes. For real? The knowledge of his comments must contribute to that 1.7 million, because his offense sure as hell dont. And McCorvey got a raise. Screw that. How many people in this country can fail at their job for five consecutive years and not have to answer to anyone? And i saw everything i needed last week. Jeffrey Rea could bunt the ball further than McShank can kick the damn thing.</p>

Winston Churchill say:</p>

"However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results"</p>

You're right - I rarely get any joy out of our games. The last two weeks, I've hardly even listened to the radio. Last week I painted my bathroom, this week I.... <span style="font-weight: bold;">went shopping with my wife.</span> I can't believe I'm that uninterested in MSU football that I'd do the most dreadful thing on earth during a game. I actually went willingly because I knew I'd be listening to the game if I stayed home, and I figured walking around Hobby Lobby would be more enjoyable. What has become of MSU football.....

I will keep going to the games. I will go because I like to look at hot college girls in tight short skirts and drink whiskey while watching satellite football in the junction. However, we are not the ones who buy expensive season tickets and spend most of the money.

Therefore, I understand why most people want to boycott and think it might be a good idea. If I was buying season tickets I would be way more pissed than I am now.

This has to stop. Take Action now Greg Byrne!

Yep, and I still think that the 20,000 attendance at our NW State game last year was the point when Orgeron really got fired. If you guys want Croom gone, the quickest way to get that done would be for only 20,000 people to show up for the MTSU game.

Aroow, Costanza, Skip, and Kired, did you think you would ever feel this way?

I know I didn't. I could not have conceived not giving a **** a few years ago. Nobody loved it more than me.

The day I was told it was Croom, well before he was hired, I felt sick. I knew State had decided they didn't want to do what it takes. They went with the "let's lessen the probation hire." Not the" let's try to have a program hire."

Probation would not have made me feel like I do now.

I could have understood lean times then.

Mr Byrne, it's time.

did you think you would ever feel this way?
the first 2 years after the Kang, I accepted

year 3, I was not happy, but willing to give a chance

year 4 & 8-5, happy, but very suspect w/ the offense, but felt the opportunities were there w/ good, sound, fundamental coaching.

LaTech, That was the straw that broke the camels back. yesterday evening I watched the SC vs. LSU game, & checked MSU on the game tracker 4, maybe 5 times while cooking for the wife, when I saw the 20 4th quarter points by UT & thought about this being Crooms 5th year, I said it has to be over, & no 6th year allowed. Last year, I would have said 'let's see how he finishes the season,' but in year 5, & he has been given every opportunity, facility upgrades, & money, it's obvious it's over. To talk about pride, & character (which I do believe is a big part of success in football, & life), & have this UT team hang 20 in the 4th, I can't accept.

As a matter of fact, & I have tried to stay away from this petty b.s., but our uniforms suck, & a coach should not be able to make that drastic of a change.

Since I went to MSU, I knew I could be apathetic, but my wife, who grew up Ole Miss, who is now a converted MSU fan, knows how much I love going to Starkville, she knows that during football season that all plans are contingent upon my desire to go watch MSU, can't believe the apathy I am at, at this point. She asked me last night as I was cleaning the grill, if I was going to take her to Starkville any over the rest of the season, I just said 'I don't know.' She has not come to grips w/ that response yet.

With the announcement of the JSU vs. MSU matchup, I'm wondering if we may have sealed our fate for one more year. I can imagine someone's making the argument that we can't fire Croom because that game will not be as significant without him.

If he's not fired, my only hope is that he doesn't lose any of the current recruits he has committed. That way our new coach in 2010 will have at least some talented young players to build a football program from. But I can guarantee you one thing - regardless of whether we have a new HC in 2009 or have to wait until 2010, he will be stepping into a talentless void that'll make the program Croom inherited look like a bunch of All-Americans.

I went to Brandon Friday night to see our only true qb Croom has had committed since he has been here. I stated after that game if I were that kid there is no way in hell I would come to State. He reminded me of Kyle Morris when he was at Clinton before being kicked out at Florida, big, strong arm, accurate, not very fast... He had 3 receivers though that could catch and run after the catch. I know we have one of them committed too. I really can't see him coming to Starksville as long as Croom is here. Surely someone will let him know what a cluster he will be walking into if he keeps his commitment.

Arrow, I was a few rows behind you in section C in 2006. That was it for me too. I haven't been back for football since, and won't be until we have a coach with some sense.

I bet there will be barely 30K for the Arkansas game. Duck season opens that day in AR. Deer season is open everywhere. Arkansas will not bring more than a few thousand.

your running back gains as much on the ground as VU did totally yet in the waning moments of the 4th quarter, the game is still in doubt. WOW.. this game should have been over if not by halftime at least 7 minutes or so into the 3rd quarter...hold the opponent to 107 yrds and can't put them away till the final few ticks? yet after the VU win, our "coach" says "we've found/got our identity back"....huh? did he really not think that was a concern? is he really that dumb? I think so...damn..

if during croom's tenure we didn't avg 110th out of 119th in offense for the last 5 seasons, it would not be as obvious that croom shouldn't be our coach anymore. all coaches, especially one running a program with our history should be given some time and fans should understand there will be years and games that gives us frustration...BUT this is a 5 yr trend that has not even had any spikes in the chart. it has flat lined for 5 years. our athl dept, alumni and fan base should expect more and take our program back from this incompetent mental lightweight///

I have no joy win or lose. Before during and after the Vandy game my wife bitched at me that were winning so be happy and all I could do is just pour more whiskey down in my face and think about how bad we sucked. I will go to the games I can but there is no enjoyment, no fun in this at all. Thanks Sly.

seriously. when i woke up the second half was about to start and my wife asked me what the score was and i responded "who cares."

i am done with this bastard. i would have never thought that i would actually fall asleep during a state game. it is beyond sad.

maybe people should set up in the junction next weekend and start selling all of their used msu gear and put up a huge sign that says "multi-fan yard sale...everything must go"</p>

The best way for the fanbase to get rid of a coach is a mass boycot. Any AD would be scared shitless of facing a season with 30,000 empty seats per game if he kept the coach.

Exactly. If your fans are already jumping the bandwagon enough for your attendance to become ****, and you're losing, you know that the next season's season ticket sales are going to bottom out. The only way to keep them from bottoming out is to either win or change coaches. If you're in the middle of a losing season already, you are basically faced with changing coaches or taking a big revenue hit.

I'll be curious to see how your attendance looks this weekend. My guess is still that Byrne finds himself in the same spot that Boone found himself in 2004. He'll probably give Croom the ultimatum to make a change on offense, and Croom will either comply or refuse. If he refuses, you'll find out what Byrne is made of.

There are too many state fans that are complacent with losing, in all honesty.

I think if it were known that a boycott was being attempted, the sheep would step up and do everything they could to bring people to the games.

That game will be "significant"- and by that I mean to Mississippians- with or without him. Besides, we are already enabling JSU for some God unknown reason, the least we can do is move OUR program forward.
