<div> For Mississippi State head coach Sylvester Croom, watching Saturday's game film of the Bulldogs' 14-13 loss to Kentucky didn't reveal much more than what he saw on the field during the game. </div> <div>
"Pretty much the obvious," Croom said following Monday's practice session. "We didn't make plays when we had to. We had several times and opportunities to do so."
</div> <div> With such a small margin for error, Croom admitted that when his top athletes don't come through with game-changing plays or performances, it ultimately hurts the team - even if they grade out or play well.
</div> <div> Croom referenced starting free safety Derek Pegues as one of those players who didn't have the impact the Bulldogs needed on Saturday.
</div> <div> "Derek played well except for three plays," Croom said. "He had two penalties and a dropped interception. When you have guys like him, they have to make plays and can't make mistakes. That's just where we are right now.
</div> <div> "When they don't make plays it's usually going to be game deciding." </div>

And you had a pick 6 opportunity and blew it. How dare you?

If Greg Byrne doesn't fire him, then I have lost all faith in him as a great AD.

When one of your leading scorers has been shut down all season, it's time to jump on him.

For Croom to call out anyone on the defense is ridiculous. We lose games because his offense sucks. That's pretty much it.

if I remember the dropped interception, it was a ball that was thrown so poorly that Pegues was starting to close on the intended receiver and the ball came out of nowhere to him. Maybe Im thinking of the wrong play. How dumb does a coach look complaining about a dropped interception?

but I also know what else was game deciding, Croom: your worthless $$@*!@@ placekicker missing a chipshot field goal to win the damn game. Criticize him for once.

pegues was breaking on the receiver, who tipped the poorly thrown pass just enough that it hit pegues in the arm. it's a tough play to make. it's not like the pass floated into his arms and he dropped it.

also, uk didn't score on that drive. it's ridiculous to throw pegues under the bus like that. talk about missed opportunities all you want, but you can't say that he basically "didn't execute" on that play. what were his 2 penalties?

I cannot stand that piece of ****. I sure as hell hope I don't hear another ******* tell me what a "great man of character" Croom is. Total horseshit.

whatever that is?

Who gives a ****? Even if he were saying all the right things. Even if I thought his coaching decision were all little tidbits of wisdom and strategy. I just don't give a ****. We lose too many games while he is the head coach. He needs to be gone.

That's just where we are right now.
5 years later, & that is his perception of this team. His team.

excuse, after excuse, after excuse......I would respect him more if he would just own up to it

So what about the plays where we did get the turn over and the offense failed to do jack with it?

not the possible interception Croom referred to. Pegues was about 5 yards from the receiver and the ball was tipped. That type of thing happens so fast very few times can you adjust to the diverted trajectory of the ball. Its not like a direct pass went right in and out of his hands. The pass interference was the one that really killed us. He reached out to grab the guy's shirt (apparently thinking he was burned) but then really didn't end up grabbing anything enought to affect the play at all. So if the ball HAD been catchable, which it wasn't, Pegues lame attempt wouldn't have helped anything. Without that penalty we get the ball back, instead, KY keeps the drive going and eventually scores their second TD. The first personal foul penalty was bad as well. It took the ball from the 20 to the 10. It looked to me like the ref was going to spot the ball for a first down anyway but it gave them ten less yards to drive in for the TD.

I don't think Smoot could have snagged that one it was so fast.

I don't think Pe-gas is 100% healthy.

3 bad plays and he wants to throw the unquestioned best player on the team under the bus? Call him out for dropping a pick 6? The defense held UK to 14 damn points. Anytime your D holds a team to 17ing 14 points, you're supposed to win. We lost because his 17ing kicker is 17ing terrible, he refuses to go to the 17ing soccer field and find someone better than his 17ing awful kicker, and his 17ing offense is 17ing terrible. But no, by all means, it's must be DP's fault. Crxxms put that pick 6 into the game plan. DP sure as hell better execute it. If I were DP, I'd be pissed. Playing for Crxxms sorry *** teams are costing him draft positions weekly. If he were playing for a winning team on TV every week, he'd be a mid-to-late 1st round pick at worst. And he might still be with a good Combine and Pro Day performance. But the fact it's come to that is ridiculous. Crxxms is costing him serious cash, just like he has plenty of other players over 5 years. 17 you, Crxxms. 17ing *******.

I was talking to a friend who is a big UT supporter. He said "when UT makes this next hire (he thinks Gruden), State had better step up and hire a real coach because we will be the only dead weight in the SEC."

Pegues didn't even interfere with that receiver in the first place... it was just called that.

secondly, he dropped an interception that was a horrible throw.

Our Administration pulled the wool over our eyes when they hired this guy. Our dumb *** fan base believed that he was a man of integrity. Bought the idea he was going to clean up the program. We have alot of thugs and guys in trouble. He shows what kind of man he is when he deflects blame onto players especially a star player.</p>

......I'd throw the rest of this season. This season is lost, his career at MSU is coming to an end, and he has a future in the NFL to think about. If I were him I'd say screw Crxxm, I'm moving on. I'll always think fondly of Derek because he chose to go to a ****** program and he could have gone anywhere else. He's busted his *** for us for all these years, and her doesn't deserve Crxxm throwing him under the bus like that.</p>

Every time you think that there's no other possible way that he can deflect blame from himself, he manages to top himself.

Just think, more than likely we get to go through at least one more year of this stuff.

How long, O Lord? How long?</p>

.....I realized that Crxxm was a freaking liar. I never was fond of him as a coach, but I respected him as a man until he started to get exposed for the serial liar that he is. That, and the constant blaming of players instead of never pointing the finger at himself.

I only wish that we could depend on Crxxm sticking to his guns, because that would mean he'd refuse to replace McCorvey and Byrne could proceed to fire his ***. He won't do it though, because he's already gone against his word before. This man of "character and integrity" will once again prove what a douche he is.

Seems like an appropriate line for tonight, in more ways than one, if you know what I mean.
