"Somewhere along the way we forgot who we were," Croom said. "Now we remember. We've got our identity back."</p>
WTF does it take 6 games???

Maybe croom is running this thing so much like the pro's that we need preseason games so State can find themselves....sheesh

By identity, he means all the INTs deep in Vandy territory. He's counting on Nick Stephens to do just as much this coming week.

With the way UT's offense has been "rolling", you guys will probably beat them if you can avoid the back breaking turnover. As long as you can play it safe and wait for UT to self-destruct, you'll win.

Even UT's 2005 team that failed to make a bowl game was better than this UT team. I'm still shocked at how bad they've been, especially offensively. It's Croom's chance to make his contribution to Fulmer's inevitable firing.

Edited to add: Beating UT is a lot like beating Vandy this year. If you can make their offense have to drive 60+ yards to score, you should be able to keep it tight enough to beat them, even if your O struggles.

I think that is exactly the problem, not finding your team identity until game 3 could be o.k., but 6 games, that is just lazy coaching.

I would tend to say, from a player mentality concept, that college is more like highschool, & a coach does have to instill confidence in the players, & a coach does have to design the gameplan to his current players strengths, & a coach does have to reinforce technique.

But, if it took 6 games to find a team identity, it should only take 6 years for Croom to figure out he has to get off his arse & put forth an effort, & have assistants that know what the hell is going on & how to coach.......& of course, recruit good kickers, a QB every year, & offensive lineman.
