Croom was told resign or be fired. Every person on this board needs to email Greg and tell him thanks. It is only because he is here and for once we have leadership in the athletic dep't.

Croom is a bigger idiot than I thought. Make them fire you and take the $$$. It's not like he is going to be up for any other head coaching positions.

Even though he may not want to resign, I honestly don't believe he will bad mouth State either. I hope/believe he will tell the BCA and NAACP to just shut the hell up if they start **** over this.

I'm sure there were some agreements that had some cash involved between byrne and croom that had to do with croom having to call recruits and tell them that MSU was still the place they should go.

The one marginally good year (7 wins and a ****** bowl) was sandwiched between some of the shittiest football teams I've ever seen. Cap it off with the loss to La Tech and the prison rape by OM, and no one can give y'all ****. No one has ever needed to be fired more than Croom.

Here's why. Remember back to 2003 when Eli was at OM, and we went 10-3 with a Cotton Bowl win. Everyone in MS knew damn well that we were a shell of a team the next year and without the #1 draft pick at QB, we couldn't beat anyone. Cutcliffe didn't do his job right, and I think some of that was because of health reasons. However, when push came to shove, he was stubborn and wouldn't fire any of his staff. It cost him his job, and rightfully so. We caught a TON of crap for that...and he was white. In the eyes of people outside of MS, Croom has taken a team that was in worse shape than that 2004 OM team and had several key victories, culminating in an 8-win bowl-vicorious season. Then he has "one bad year" after that, and "MSU wants to crucify him." It will be just what we had with Cutcliffe, but amplified, because he is the first black SEC coach. I like Croom as a person, but you guys have GOT to get rid of him, which you have now done.....just saying I think you will catch alot of crap....especially from Mark May, who will probably call you the "Mississippi Rebulldogs" or something asinine...... but who knows, he could surprise me.

Coaches usually get most of their remaining money in these "quit or be fired" scenarios. Fulmer did, I imagine Sly did as well.
