One of the worst wins I have ever seen. Never in my life have I seen a team come back and score 14 points in less than 2 minutes and be in a position to send it to overtime because we decided to play our safeties 50 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

There aren't many games I care to watch again from the Croom era. The FL with Norwood's big run, and Auburn and Bama from 07. Those are the only ones I can think of.

I know this wasn't 05, but one of my favorite farks before I retired from sucking at it.

I've heard that perhaps Rocky was calling the plays because that game we actually looked like a real Offense and I know something was different, was Kentucky just that bad?

(since all we really did was ran Dixon and Ducre the whole time). UK was coming off a triple OT win against LSU and a double OT loss to UF and their defense never showed up.

Don't forget Wes Caroll hadn't been dumbed down yet either.

crooms, while probably a great person, was a horrible head football coach. Our offense was just terrible to watch. I mean I can handle defensive struggles and low scoring games from people being conservative. I can handle two teams fighting in the trenches. I can handle two teams battling. However, crooms coached games were just a joke, for the most part and were not very fun to watch no matter what style you enjoy.

Why on Earth would would Croom decide out of the blue to let Felker call plays? If McCorvey was sick, OK, I could understand.

Actually, part of the truth is our defense was pretty darn good that year. People play the "lucky" card a lot with that team, but guess who was making all of the "lucky" plays? The defense.

If I had to credit a coach for that year, you've got to give credit to Ellis Johnson. He was good.

But in that game, UK also dropped a punt, and that was a key play in that game.

Granted he only played on special teams sparingly, but he was on the team. Good friend of mine.

....it would be why he ran Galloway up the middle something like 16 times in a row (literally) against Tennessee. It must have set a record for consecutive 3 & outs. Tennessee players were laughing at us from the sidelines.

I can only guess Felker was pissed at the team and was going to prove a point about something.

Think about it... what games, particularly wins that year, because of a defensive play?<div>
</div><div>Auburn- Pegues pick 6 in the first quarter (I believe on AU's first play from scrimmage after we scored a TD). Some offense in the first half. I thought Kodi Burns was gonna eat us alive with the option after he came in. Won 19-14</div><div>UK- dropped punt? (you are right, it was a pivotal play. UK could never answer back after that) Won 31-14</div><div>Bama- "Gun-man" Anthony Johnson's pick 6 right before the half. Dixon scored a touchdown later in that game and a field goal. Other than that, no offense. Won 17-12</div><div>UM- Pegues punt return for a touchdown late in the 4th. LITERALLY no offense until halfway through the 4th quarter. Carlson miraculously hit a field goal. Won 17-14</div><div>UCF (Liberty Bowl)- 2 or 3 interceptions (i don't remember). None of them were really "pivotal," but it got our "lack of offense" on the field. Didn't put a drive together until late in the 4th. Won 10-3</div><div>
</div><div>So... besides Tulane, Gardner Webb, and UAB, those are our 8 wins, and with the exception of UK, all were decided by a touchdown or less. </div>

We ran literally one offensive play the entire game. It's like on playstation when you find the unstoppable play and run it over and over and over against your friend.

This was that game. Crooms seemed like he was on his way out and a win over a team we hadn't beat in 10 years looked to be the salvation of his career.<div>
</div><div>Of course, the debacle the following week was the best I ever felt after a loss. He looked like a defeated man after the first quarter. It also gave us this gem:</div><div>

</div><div>
</div><div>Whichever one of you did this should go ahead an claim it.</div>

that was probably my favorite game coached by crooms. I was hoping that they would score 100 that day. I knew it was the only way that the people that didn't want to get rid of crooms would change their tune, if we got murdered by the bears.

and I never really felt bad afterwards... because just like someone said, that was what we needed to put the final nail in Crxxms coffin after we had just beaten Arkansas. 2008 was one of the worst football seasons I have ever sat through as a State fan. </p>

where it didn't seem like we must have had God on our side that day in order to pull it out.

People were acting like Felker was some sort of offensive genious. He was basically a white version of Croom.

I remember when he got fired, his quote to Sports Illustrated was "I guess people want to win too bad." I was like, WTF? Yeah we want to win. What's your problem with that?

He had some awesome lines like "Well we lined up wrong, but hey, it's only game 12." And he finished it all off with a Sonic Drive of the Game to back to Tupelo as the coup de grace.

I knew Croom was gone when Byrne wasn't at his press confernce. That's never a good sign.

Felker was a college coach and nothing but.

Croom was a pro position specialist and nothing but.

Felker was the youngest head coach in the ncaa and pretty green (which accounts for his quote)

Croom had been around for a long time, and knew exactly what to expect. He tried to force a pro peg in a college hole.

Felker loves msu, always had and always will.

Croom loves bama and always will.

But felker knows offense. He's no innovative mind at it but the comparison of the two shows how little people who follow msu actually understand.

2007 Ole Miss fangaveCroom during the 2007 season.

It may be push, but some Ole Miss fans gave Croom some credit for playing power football with Dixon, mainly because our coach at the time was busy trying to figure out a way not to beat MSU. At the end of the day though, most Ole Miss fans thought that Croom coached that season with a horseshoe in his ***, and when that was posted on here, they were crushed.

Now, fast forward almost 4 years, and it seems that 2011 MSU fan, thinks that Croom won every game because of dumb luck, because he was so damn incompetent, and that he was lucky as hell. In fact, they are giving him almost no credit for that season, as evidenced by this post above.

Its funny because its happened to Ole MIss as well, most Ole Miss fans championed O's recruiting when he was here, and MSU fans would talk about Croom kicking his *** instate, now 4 years later its MSU fans talking up O's recruiting while OM fans are saying it wasn't all that. Its really, really funny.
