That's true too, but if you follow it, you can often get a pretty good idea who is being pursued heavily and who isn't.

For instance, Bobby Massie was pursued by Alabama heavily. It wasn't hard to see that. He had a spot if he wanted it. We had a kid this year that we went after early, but he cut us, can't remember his name. He had Auburn at the top of his list I believe, but then he later found out he really didn't have a committable offer to Auburn.

There are situations like that as well. And there are situations like Michael Carr where he didn't really spend much time going through the process, so it was hard to really tell who had offered. It was pretty clear he was heavily wanted, but I don't know who they listed as his offers. It's not a clear cut thing, but you can tell when a guy is making a decision in most cases, if he has legitimate interest from certain programs or not.

last year, and I wish I had the energy to find the thread, ole miss fans told us how important it was to sign 3 stars instead of 2 stars (which is ridiculous). Now, Im learning that 3 stars are irrelevant b/c they are just glorified 2 stars.

Tremendous.

I guess I can put this in my notebook along with "you should recruit the state of Florida more"

who did MSU have this year above a 3 star that played significant minutes that finished with a national ranking in the Top 20? I believe that would only be these Pernell McPhee, Derek Sherrod, Fletcher Cox and Chad Bumphis. Can't remember if Boyd got a 4th star or not? Also KJ is too far back for me to remember but I believe he was only a 3 star. Just saying that our entire team this year was made up of primarily 3 star and below guys but they played much better than that.

pretty sure his comment is directly referring to the comment by Coach...not saying they are irrelevant, just that the comparison made (I believe between Crumses and Mullens) is no longer apples and apples in that regard.

But, it is more fun to act like it is some irrational recruiting smack.

its just funny to me that last year the importance of 3 stars was preached, but this year Im learning that a 3 star really doesn't mean what it used to.

Coach's point was that Mullen is signing more three stars than Croom ever did.

Im simply pointing out that the recruiting sites have basically done away with two star players making it easier to sign three star players. Why do you think the #191 WR in scout is a 3 star?

In 2004, the #91 WR was a two star. You don't think that is an advantage for Mullen or Nutt or any coach that is recruiting now if they are counting stars?

and he definitely belongs on that list but I don't know why Chris White got 4 stars. He didn't have many offers out of JUCO. Anyway, that's still only 5 4-star HS players among our entire roster of contributors.

your numbers do not account for attrition or players never making it to campus, right?
Wouldn't attrition and players never making it fall on your coach?
