Can see the smoke from my house. Down S. Montgomery. Talked to an off duty cop at the softball fields. Supposedly 4 buildings on fire. Can't stop it from spreading. Called in surrounding county volunteer fire dept. Oktoc Volunteer Fire Dept. just passed my house.

People on rooftops in the other buildings watching the blaze. brilliant.

there is a neighborhood right by walmart thats just houses called crossgates seperate from the apartments

Just rode by...it's bad. The building(s) are near the clubhouse area. I could not tell how many buildings but just guessing it looked like maybe two from the direction the smoke was coming from.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Firefighters are trying to put out the flames on a fire at the Crossgates Apartments on Stark Road on the west side of the city.

WTVA's CJ LeMaster has heard from people at the complex saying that the flames appear to have destroyed at least two buildings.

He also reports that people heard three loud explosions.

Have you heard if there are any injuries or fatalities?
I tell ya....I feel for the firefighters. The smoke is BAD.....and can be seen all the way across town! I imagine the heat is pretty bad too.

but they think there was a bomb. 9 buildings don't go ablaze that quickly with an electrical fire.

My God I hope there was no one hurt. This could be a tragedy.

I would be surprised if it was a bomb that went off. The wind has been howling all day in Starkville. That's why the fire has spread. I don't know the origin of the fire, but whoever just said that a muslim set a bomb probably just started a rumor.

There's an apartment building I used to live at in Huntsville that burned down several years ago. I may be leaving a trail of destruction behind.

One firefighter was injured when ammunition in one of the apartments
went off in the fire; a bullet struck him in the upper chest. Reports are that it is not a life threatening injury.

That is terrible. I lived in Building 10 during the 2001-2002 school year. Hopefully no one was hurt.

Firefighters may have a lot of dull days but one day that may face death in the face. I hope that all of the firefighters make it ok.

yeah just talked to you one of my friends, him and his gf are ok but they have lost everything. Dont know the exact number their building was. But you went past the club house and took a right and theirs was the first one on the right.

Iknow a firefighter here in Starkville that retired a few years ago. I made this statement to him and he agreed: "You guys get paid way to much when you're not working and there's not enough money to pay you when you are." He said that was correct but it usually equalled out.
