I think pope will slightly change the system and make 4 to be offensive engine
I think Garrison has shown the ability to make some good passing as a big man, he’s not Amari but he dropped some pretty dimes this year. If he improves at the rate he could in the system I could see him growing into a decent facilitator of the offense in the post. He won’t bring the ball up though.

I don’t believe any of these numbers. Could be made up by anyone. Make up a higher number, spread it around, people start asking why so much, and it generates interest. Drives up demand.

Something being true doesn't require your belief in it. And your refusal to believe it... doesn't make it untrue.

I just searched it on Twitter. There are many other posts suggesting the same thing. I forget where I initially saw it.

Important language in that tweet. That's what hes asking, not what hes getting. If thats his asking, and we're involved, hes probably going to get 1-1.25 mil. Not alot of market for him this year at that weight. If he gains weight.... price goes up.

20-30M…sorry I’m not buying that

Its easily that. Why do you think they get every elite freshman? It isn't because of their name or coach.

Keep in mind this might also include true actual nil opportunities beyond the pay for play. Flagg signed a 4.5 mil shoe deal and was in half the commercials that airs during the tournament. Flagg easily made 10 mil plus just himself.

That doesn't even count the bottomless bank account of nike who has insanely close ties to duke and paid their players well before it was legal, dating back to Bagley and okafor.

Plus remember before nil their boosters gave parents high paying no show jobs and million dollar homes to live in along with leased cars. Now instead it's just millions into their nil pool.

So ya its easily 20-30 mil. Here's the other secret - it aint just mid majors that are cooked. It's basically everyone who doesn't have a Tyson chicken type bank roller. The very best everyone can hope for is a particular season's recruiting class is down, which means duke couldn't load up the same. Even then theyd just raid the portal I guess.

If something sounds like obvious ********, it’s most likely ********. Occam’s Razor
You probably don't even know who William of Okham was and definitely don't know what Occam's Razor means. But I'm done arguing with you. It's dumb of me to even have responded.

Not shocked that Duke is upwards of $30 mil. They have 9 billionaire alumni. The rest of their alumni base's wealth just blows out almost any other power conference school, and on top of that, the only sport they care to fund is basketball...

It's been pretty clear for the last decade that Dukes fanbase and basketball program is more than willing to buy players and pay for championships. Now it's just out in the open.

What I like about him is he's got HOPS. If Pope had run more lob plays we might have seen a completely different BG.

BUTTTTTTTTT……conference realignment is driven almost exclusively by football. I’m really going to relish seeing them trapped in a crappy ACC in a couple years when: UNC, FSU, Clemson, Miami, UVA, & UL leave.

Yeah man, that is def ********.

I know a guy whos father talks to Roy Williams weekly. He’s told me that UNC NIL was $6MM this season, and Duke was at about $10MM. I can’t guarantee this to be true, but I can guarantee that my friends father talks to Roy weekly. So if it’s not true, Roy is the one full of ****.

I'm not sure if it would be as high as 50mil.. but I see no reason to believe it's not higher than anyone else's, and very much into the high teens and low 20's. And it makes sense, look at what they did the last 15 years. They got any recruit they wanted, even the ones Cal was in on.. and it never really made sense: Duke wasn't trying to push guys into the NBA like Cal was. Coach K was in no way a players-type coach.

Also, Duke is a crusty white school thats now a lot of asians and indians (and frumpy looking ones at that).. Let's just say that if the money wasn't flowing, I don't think America's top HS recruits would line up to go to a medical school.

This has always been about duke funneling more money into it's basketball program than almost anyone else. Now is it $30m? I have no idea, but I'm sure were going to start to find out some real numbers in the coming years.

I mean, it’s collusion on a mass scale between Nike, ESPN, USA Basketball, and Adam Silver. I guess sprinkle in Seth Davis manning the desk at CBS. It’s vomit inducing.

7'0 freshmen usually are. If we have him for 1-2 off season strength and conditioning programs he'll be Malauch from Duke with a 3 ball.
Upon reading this and learning who gawth is. I can agree that's a mold and a similarity. Hope we get him. We need to match the modern bball landscape we are watching.

Part of it, is that Duke is simply positioned very well for the NIL "pay for players" era. They have much more disposable money from boosters and alumni, and no where else to spend it.

Whichever schools have the richest alumni and backing while ALSO having the desire to spend that money.. thats who will succeed in this new era (provided their coach isn't a goon). Look at BYU. Up to a possible $8mil for Dybantsa. And it meant nothing to the owner of the Utah Jazz and BYU alum

Not saying Duke doesn’t have boosters. Just that it almost doesn’t matter given the other resources at their disposal.

KY needs an AD that’s willing to get his her hands dirty so to speak and raise NIL money. Theirs money all around Central KY. How do these players get paid. Who cuts the check and do they get paid weekly bi weekly monthly yearly. Just all seems crazy to me but KY basketball is a religion to the state. They should have 10-15 mil per season guaranteed.

That's a good point.. that might be the only thing we can do.. find the next AD who knows what the game is.

Just pursuing some nil would be a start. He makes the staff cultivate all their own nil all while Mitch is soliciting the exact same people for athletic department donations.

So not only is he not helping, hes actually taking from those very funds.

I know he was an English philosopher. I also know you’re a raging ***, and this board is much worse place because you continue to post here.
I don't get the dude.. Everyone on here hates him.. He's 100% not a UK/Pope fan.. Apparently he has zero friends in his life so he gets on here and attempts to make everyone on here miserable.. Dude literally needs to tie a block to him and jump in a lake..

MR. MAGOON not only blocks shots, but appears to handle himself well in the open court .

That is not what I expected to see at all from a 7-0 205 lb. center. This dude is smooth and fluid! And he has pretty shot! Damn, I'm impressed. Again, this isn't all your typical skinny 7 footer.
