All.... As always these are subject to change at this early stage. List is not complete and I will add to it as the information becomes available. A footnote most but not all of the first two games are non cons for the schools. The CS8 is set up to have two crossover games in w8 and w9. If there are two CS8 teams still available they can schedule each other in the opener or week two. SHG was to play CBC and Cardinal Ritter but the MSHSAA is showing booked dates. CBC opens up with Trinity. CR might be a go for the Cyclones. The schedule shows the Lions playing CBC twice one of those in week two. Ratsy

Jacksonville -
8-28 (F) Jerseyville (A)
9-5 (S) Rolla (Mo.) (A)

Decatur (MacArthur) -
8-28 (F) Mattoon (A)
9-4 (F) Granite City (H)

Decatur (Eisenhower) -
8-28 (F) Mascoutah (A)
9-4 (F) Mt. Zion (A)

Rochester -
8-29 (S) Gibson Southern (A) I assume this will be a Saturday game.
9-4 (F) Batavia (H)

Normal University -
8-28 (F) Southeast (H)
9-4 (F) Mahomet-Seymour (A)

Lincoln -
8-28 (F) Peoria (Manual) (H)
9-4 (F) Marion (A)

You are correct regarding Rochester's first game being planned for a Saturday. Gibson Southern will be the host of 2 games that day - they've started a partnership with another area HS to play what they are calling the United Fidelity Bank Bowl with Reitz HS playing another non-regional opponent first and Rochester vs Gibson Southern being the nightcap.

However, the potential expanded playoff has a chance to throw a wrench in the works doesn't it? If I read and remember it correctly the season bumps forward 1 week to make room for the additional playoff round. No issues if you have all Illinois based opponents as everyone is in the same boat and just jumps forward 7 days, but if you have teams from Indiana or Wisconsin (not sure about Missouri or Iowa) those states already start a week before us so they'd have games scheduled already for those preceding Friday/Saturdays.

AD's going into scramble mode?

Would this change go into effect for next year already? Seems crazy to not give a little notice on such a big change.

All.... Yes if it passes. Early voting ( after three days ) the proposal was trailing. Voting ends December 15. I would assume this upcoming Tuesday the results will be announced. Ratsy

All.... Was just talking with rocketnation on that this morning Coach. I saw the change on il.8to18.org with the Crimsons moving up their week 1 game with Jerseyville to 8-21 and needing a week two.

I noticed on the Missouri High School Athletic Association site that North County is not playing Chatham in week two. That two year deal has ended. Haven't come across any non con game info on the Titans for 2026. Maybe a call over to Chatham to see if they need a game in that slot. Ratsy

All.... A recent change in scheduling on the il.8to18.org site for SHG. Cyclones looking for a week one game on 8-21. Plenty of heavy hitters to choose from in Illinois most my Catholic brothers in arms are available.
Week two is showing CBC once again out of Missouri an away game. Might be a conflict there because the Cadets schedule is showing they play (H) Trinity out of Kentucky. The Shamrocks last season were the #1 team in Kentucky. Ratsy

Edit (12.25PM) The non con soap opera continues. Ihsa open dates site has been updated. SHG is now looking for games week 1 (8-21) and 2. (8-28) Lots and lots to choose from at the moment....

Thought Saturday afternoon possible because of travel time but it appears this will be a Friday night game.
All.... Heard this on the local sports radio show before calling in and expressing thoughts on the new playoff expansion. (slight rant lol) They mentioned Coach Leonard has some kind of connection in Moline and the school. Swansa01 is the resident WB6 expert on the board. He should be able to give an early report on what the Maroons bring back in 2026 and what they lost due to graduation.

Been to Moline before. Whitey's Ice Cream is a must stop before the game! Ratsy

All.... The State Journal Register every year does a Player of the Year in football for the approximate area. I assume for subscribers. Of the 13 named six are from the CS8. The other seven from smaller schools. Here are the six from the CS8.

Cam Brinkman (SHG)
Connor Broughton (Rochester)
Colten Knoedler (Chatham)
Brody Scheffler (Springfield)
Kaiden Stout (Rochester)
Drew Ward (SHG)

A good list and all 13 deserving in their own right. I would likley pick young Mr. Knoedler from the Titans. Ratsy

All.... Normal University has secured their 8-21 game for 2026. Will travel and play the Hubs from Rochelle. The week two game is the same now on 8-28 with Mahomet-Seymour.

What is interesting here is before the new change they were scheduled to open up the season against Southeast. So the Spartans will be looking for a replacement. Ratsy

A relative went to St Ambrose University and was a big fan of Whitey's. Multiple locations on both the Illinois and Iowa side of the Quad Cities.

The SJR took your advice and named Colten Knoedler the Player of the Year. Well-deserved award. Their story indicated that he will play baseball only in college with plans to attend LLCC.
