Has me thinking Centralia might be better than originally believed. I think we see another interesting matchup past this week for whomever wins Mac/MTZ... Centralia appears to be very good.
Jersey clearly earned their way into this SHG game... but they wake up from the dream this week.
SHG has to make it to the Rochester game in the 4A bracket or it's another embarrassing let down of a year for Coach Allison. Honestly, if he doesn't take this team to state in 4A I think it's also quite a let down. He needs it more than anyone too. First time he's come into the playoffs without 3 or more losses on the books and now gets 4A runs for being "down" for a few years leading up to this.
2023 - Morris 39-36 (5A 2nd round)
2024 - JCA 49-0 (5A 2nd round)
2025 - Rochester 41-35 (4A QF)
To this point, Allison has been unable to win the big games when they matter the most (the playoffs). Yeah, yeah, "they were young." No one's buying that... It's SHG... they don't rebuild, they reload. They expect it, thus so should we as the outsiders looking in. Regular season triumphs are solid to this point, and this year's team has proven more than once they can win close games. But those are premier programs SHG can't feel good losing to the past 3 years. I can't imagine that's skipping their minds in this bracket this year. Plus, to add a fun wrinkle into the mix... an old "friend" in Metamora could be waiting for them next round.
No one has more to prove in the 4A bracket than John Allison and his Cyclones, imo. If he can't win 4A with this team... can he ever?
Maybe Morris, as they've listened to the talk about Rochester all season and quietly gone about their business as usual up north. But we'll save that for the title game when they get there...
