After Week 10 losses by U High, Springfield, MacArthur, and QND and Week 11 losses by Chatham and Jacksonville, two CS8 teams remain and they will face off Saturday in a rematch of their Week 9 contest. The winner will face the winner of the Cahokia-Breese Central game which is at 2 pm Saturday.
Saturday's high projected to be 73, great for November and a big change from earlier in the week.
SHG (8-3) at Rochester (10-1) 4 PM
Against Carterville last week, SHG scored twice late in the 1st half to increase their lead from 14-7 to 24-7 on their way to a 45-15 victory. Rochester started quickly at Waterloo, leading 14-0 in the first quarter. The Bulldogs responded with two TD drives, the second which tied the score at 14 with 3 minutes left in the 1st half. The Rockets were able to score twice in the final 3 minutes to lead 28-14 at half, then pulled way in the 2nd half to win 55-21.
The Week 9 game between the Cyclones and Rockets was a back-and-forth contest with big plays by both teams on offense along with key defensive stands by each as well. Tied at 14 at half, Rochester opened up a 28-14 lead late in the 3rd. The Cyclones responded with two 4th-quarter scores to tie it at 28 with around a minute remaining. The Rockets were able to kick a last second FG to win 31-28. Rochester is averaging 49 points per game; SHG 47. Rochester is allowing 18 points per game; SHG 26.
