By subbing a pinch runner for Edmonds and then bunting into a double play with the game tied?

At least the Brewers are losing..

The offense will heat back up, and when it does, they'll be fine. They're struggling at the plate lately. I think they've just hit a little bit of a lull, but they've got too many good hitters to stay cool for too long. I'm not too worried about it. There are worse places to be than 4.5 games better than the next best team in the entire league with only 3 weeks of baseball left.

throwing a first pitch fastball to Albert Pujols with two men on base. Isn't he the guy you don't want to let beat you? I'm absolutely convinced this team is in full on collapse mode.

Not to mention Soriano hitting into a double play in the top of the ninth. Probably the only time he didn't strike out all night. Thanks buddy.

......break through some day and at least get to the World Series, if not win it all. Unfortunately it just seems as time goes by that it simply will never happen. Even what's undoubtedly the best team they've had in years in terms of talent and depth is having their issues down the stretch run of a season. I'm not normally one to believe in curses, but I almost believe in one now.

Give it up already. The only person you're fooling is yourself.

So you want me in full panic mode? I've seen this kind of **** before. Right now, I'm just glad they are doing it during the regular season and not in the playoffs.

I've also seen the Cardinals do this same exact **** as far as collapsing down the stretch, and I saw them get healthy, and win the World Series after only winning 85 games in the regular season. I'm being dead serious when I'm saying that I really don't care how they get to the playoffs. The only thing I care about is that they do get to the playoffs, and right now they are not in grave danger of losing that status as a playoff team. When they get to the point where they only have a 2 or 3 game lead on the final playoff spot, I'll start to worry. As of right now, I believe they still have an 8 game lead on that spot.

The playoffs are an entirely different ballgame than the regular season. You can win 100 games in the regular season and choke in the playoffs, and you can also win 85 games and win the World Series. As long as they get back to full strength and pick back up the offense in the next 3 weeks, I don't care how many games they win or lose right now.

Edited to add: I've been a Cubs fan long enough to appreciate having this comfortable of a lead in September. It doesn't happen often. The Cubs went through a similar skid right after the All-Star break, allowing the Brewers to tie for the division lead, and then they followed it up by playing some of their hottest baseball all year. That's why I'm not panicking, and I won't panic until they are in danger of missing the playoffs.

This team was supposed to really really bad this year and they have turned out to be competitive. Maybe if you said the bullpen has had an awful year, then I'd buy.
