Just found out that I will be in Chicago when the Cards are in town to play. Is it hard to get tickets to Wrigley? Can I get them at the gate or should I buy on Stub Hub?

I've never had a problem getting tickets through the Cubs website if I've known a good time in advance when I'll be there. Now for a Cards game it might be more difficult. You might not be able to get bleacher seats, but I've always gotten pretty good second level down the line seats.

ETA: And I don't mean the upper deck. Just the upper levels on the lower seating (up under the deck).

I went to a Cardinals game at Wrigley this year, in one of the worst Cub seasons of all time (Cubs still won). Tickets for the game were not all that hard to come by, but overpriced on Stubhub, Craigslist, etc. If you know now that you are going, and can get the tickets via the Cubs web site, do that. They probably are not going to get any cheaper because people will pay to see the Cardinals and the St. Louis fans travel well. The other thing is that the Cubs tiered their games and charged more for the games they knew would be high demand, and the Cardinals ticket was in the highest tier. So a seat that might cost you $20 on a Tuesday against the Marlins will cost you $75 on a Saturday against the Cardinals.

There are also a few resellers a block from the stadium. I bought tickets from one on Clark st. a couple of years ago when Maholm was pitching for Pittsburgh.

I remember it being a positive experience. I barely paid any markup at all, if I even paid one. But, I am sure that fleecing will abound everywhere for Cardinals tickets...

Correct. There are several "resellers" to put it nicely. I purchased from one of them too. I ended up with good seats behind home plate in the shade, but I paid well over face for them. I was looking for seats in a specific area and I also needed three, which is sometimes a hard number to buy.
