The Bible is a big book. Smart people aren’t fooled by the socialist mischaracterization of Christ. The story of Ananius and Sapphira in Acts Chapter 5 is in direct contrast to that belief. The Catholic Church essentially ex-communicated Galileo for pushing the idea of heliocentrism. The Church claimed the universe was geocentric based on a lone verse, Psalm 104:5 which reads “He has set the Earth upon its foundations”.
Many “scholars” taught and still teach the Earth was created in 6 literal days, as opposed to understanding the author of Genesis had fewer words available than those of the modern times. Yom has multiple meanings based upon the lack of words. Yom (day) can equal a 24 hour period or it can mean a very long period of time as in the day of the dinosaurs. Using the correct interpretation of “day” here means the Earth was created over 6 very long periods and frankly those very 6 days describe well how the Earth was created and how we got here in an oversimplified, non-scientific way. Scholars didn’t have to misinterpret the Creation story, but they did it anyway for centuries even after discoveries of creatures appearing to be well older than the 6 literal day time script interpretation of the Bible and evidence of happenings on Earth well before any life existed on this planet. Science is not pro or anti-Christian, but “scholars” have discredited themselves time and time again.
The Bible is a roadmap to an individual relationship with the Creator. You can believe what you want, but what you aren’t going to do here is use your religion to burden other people. Your burden is yours, not mine.
